Hi, I gave my NBDE part I last week, and unfortunately I failed the exam with a 74. I didn't expect to get this low a score, and guess gave it hurriedly to escape the new 2012 exam pattern.

How would my failing this exam affect my application next year (2013 cycle)? I intend to retake the exam in a few months. Though the new pattern will be pass/fail only, colleges will see my previous score, since all past scores will also be sent.

My GPA is 3.33. I have 2 yrs work experience in India after BDS, and an additional 3 yrs of speciality training experience.

What can do at this stage to limit the damage caused by my first failed attempt? Any advice would be appreciated.

dont wory for that cant b changed... just focus on the future, just clear ur nbde's in 2012 with ur best efforts n i thnk u defintly stand a chance bcoz frm 2013 i thnk profile wil b of evn more importance , so wid ur experience n speaciality training u ll b step ahead frm many, so wid nbdes also focus on improving ur profile!! gudluck

Do they send all the failed reports to schools even if the candidate passed in the final attempt?

If you think you dont need much time (because you recently gave it), try putting in 10-11 hours a day; And you might be able to give it before 31st dec..

I do agree with this nice advice. If you feel moderately ready, just keep faith and study hard for following month. Then take your exam before Dec 31'st.
In my opinion this is a great advice.

Just relax and do concentrate on your study. Do not think about what really doesn't matters at this time.

Keep faith.🙂

you need at least 3 months to go by before you can retake the test.

I would advise to wait and give it next year again...till then improve on your profile... u will also come to knw the requirements of various colleges for 2013 cycle so you can go about accordingly ( like nyu needs DAT ...god knws which other college might need DAT )...so basically forget wat happened and start studying....

I know it feels really bad if u work hard and dont get good result but see the positive side of this thing - if u have scored few more marks..u will be rated as PASS but with low score say 75 or 76 n wont be able to retake ..one of my friend is stuck due to rule that ...once u r passed u can not retake to improve score.
I had seen her regretting.. she always says "things would have been much better if I had scored 74 rather then 76"... at least now u can retake ...n u scored 74 now.... u sure will pass in new pattern at 1st attempt.....u will rock !👍

hello asd1234, do you mean any NBDE tests that you took after Jan. 1, 2012 will sent to the school even it is a fail? or starting Jan. 1, 2012 all the tests you took before will sent to the school even though those fail scores were taken before 2012? thank you for clarifying with me.

Irrespective of when you have taken the exam, before or after Jan 1st 2012,the score reports in 2012 will contain your results for all the attempts.Hope this helps!

make you smile explained it well in the post above. 🙂

Do they send raw score of passed score or they just send the failed score report? if the candidate has failure previously.

They show all the scores regardless of pass or fail if you took it before 2012. So, if you fail it will show the comprehensive as a 74% or less. If you take it in 2012 your pass is shown as a Pass, but your fail is shown as a 74% or less, whatever you get.

Hi asd,
They only send the composite score rather individual score if you fail in the exam,if you pass they just send it as pass.Correct me if i am wrong,ty.

Hi asd,
Thanks for your help, could you post where it was there in jcnbde,ty.
