I really feel like I am going to---completely under estimated the amount of material.

Will I be screwed for the semester?

Just keep pushing, wasting time worrying isn't going to help you any. If you do fail get help from your professors and classmates who did better. A good chunk of our class failed the first anatomy exam and they did just fine after that. The first block is alot of adjustment. Just do your best and then figure out what you need to change if it isn't enough.

You can either have a heart attack over what you don't know, or you can put the time in to learn as much as possible, realizing that you will never be able to remember everything.

One of these processes is useful. The other is not.

Be consistent and diligent and you will learn the material. If not this block, then you will do better next block. Try not to panic - just get to work and learn what you can.

Do most schools have block exams as well?

Dude, study and take the test. Worrying about whether or not you will fail won't help

Dig deep. Make this your greatest feat. GO! GO! GO! Don't waste another second in this browser.

I failed my first exam in med school--no worries, it all got better. There's no way to gauge the difficulty and how much to prepare until you've been tested on the material.

My guess is that you won't be alone in failing your first block. If the worst happens, regroup and hit the next one full on but armed with experience. Most people in medical school who fail anything will do so by only a couple of points. You likely know more than you would believe so relax, do the best that you can and learn from your experiences for the next one.
