failing out before white coat ceremony?

has anyone heard of a student failing out before the white coat ceremony? if you fail a course you don't pass the first block...people keep saying that the school doesn't want you to fail and will help you fight through it...but when i talk to them about the entire remediation process they make it seem like getting kicked out is not a very far fetched action.
im already looking at back up plans if i do get kicked out...but my friends here are saying im jumping the gun...our white coat ceremony is after the first block...specifically because some people drop out....but i always thought it was too harsh for the school to just kick people out because they were a few points away from passing.
