failure to clear step 3

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I'm not a FMG, but I would think that failing any of the steps would be a big red flag in your application, and would hurt your chances to get in. I think the residency programs will see that you failed, because it will be on your USMLE transcript.

Also, if you need an H visa, you'd need to pass Step 3 prior. Many programs offering H's want to see a passing score on Step 3 prior to an interview, and certainly prior to ranking.

hi thanks 4 d response but what if my visa status changes if i becum green card holder

This scares me, I wanted to take my Step 3 during the few months break I have from graduating and starting residency in 2010. Is this not a good idea?

It depends. If you plan on applying for fellowships etc, remember that your Step 3 score will be included on your score report. A poor score could cause lots of trouble. A great score could help. Step 3 is "designed" to be taken after internship. Sure you can read about it to try and learn the material.
