So I'm taking Analytical Chemistry, Organic 1, and Microbiology this Fall and am a bit nervous. They all have labs. I chose to do that to graduate faster and some have said that analytical is easier than General Chemistry 2 (true?). I hear the analytical labs can be a nightmare. I've pulled through some pretty hefty semesters in the past but it's hard to tell what this will be like. Anyone else done this? Any thoughts on how plausible it is to do well here. I realize this is not quite clear cut and dry as would be appreciated, but I'll take any answer🙂

Two labs will be annoying but other than that it doesn't look too bad. Depends on the person though.

You'll be fine. I'm currently in A chem now, and already i am dreading it's lab. If it makes you feel anybetter, i'm taking A chem, biochem lab, physiology, and genetics. All have lab aside from genetics, but genetics is still a four hour class.

I think its plausible.

I have taken Microbiology, matters how the professor teaches.

Right now, I have 3 labs and its kind of annoying.

- General Chemistry I Lab
- Organic Chemistry I & Lab
- General Biology I Lect & Lab for only 4 more weeks, then its General Biology II & Lab. 🙄

Those are my lab classes.

You need to see if pharmacy programs will accept that chem over chem 2. pharm schools want their pre reqs!

It really depends on what you like in chemistry. It also depends on what kind of student chemist you are.

I did three labs one semester and spent 12 hours in lab each week. It wasn't that bad. This was on top of commuting 25 minutes to school every day.

I kind of miss it sometimes, but only because I'm nerdy like that.

I actually have a passion for these subjects. I have spent plenty of very willing hours in my previous chemistry texts. I just want to make it all count big time down the road when it comes time to apply.

I apologize for the confusion. I actually got an A- in Chem 2. I was just comparing the two. I agree that prereqs are non-negotiable.
