Pathology shortage 'delaying diagnosis'
The UK claims that it has a pathologist shortage. I claim that they have a PHASE 10 DEFICIENCY in how their "histopathologists" are reimbursed. (BEWARE)
A quick google search shows that UK pathologists can apply for jobs at 80-100K pounds per year!
TAKE HEED all you who want to get rid of fee for service. (BIG CORPORATION AND ACADEMIA WOULD LOVE THIS AS THEY WOULD BE GIVEN EVEN MORE POWER OVER US LITTLE PEOPLE)
I claim that if their histopathologists were paid on fee for service, with market forces in tact and motivation to be productive/efficient, patients would not have to suffer through MONTHS of waiting between surgery and treatment. UK Histopathologists would be much more justly compensated. Instead, they are paid less than many plumbers in the US!!!
