lol, dude take it easy on the chemistry courses. How are you planning to take all of those chemistry courses while doing research?

Class Schedule:

Organic chemistry 2

Calc 2
Organic chemistry 1 lab

Volunteer/Research:

Inorganic chem research 15+ hours a week
Volunteer maybe 3 hours a week with hospital

-And I actually have a quick question hopefully I can get some opinions on....
I am taking the MCAT in April, and applying to schools the summer of 2011. I plan on taking these courses for my spring 2011 semester:
-Biochemistry 1
-Bio/Med Physics 2
-Orgo 2 lab
-Cell bio w/ lab
-Research 10-15 hours/week

Is this schedule to rough for a semester that I will be taking the MCAT? Also, I am thinking about taking Organic chem 2 for this summer's "B" term so I can take Biochemistry 1 in fall 2010 and can take advance Biochemistry in spring so I can have it completed to show on applications.

Thanks for any advice!

Because I can handle it, and I really enjoy chemistry. I'm doing a B.S. so I would have to take at least 4 of the 5 listed there anyway, and I wanted to do the inorganic junior year as it pertains to my research. Senior year I'll only have a couple chemistry classes but I wish to complete an honors in chemistry, which requires a lot of research during the school year. The rest of my senior year I'm filling up with math classes. I really cannot stand non-science classes.

Statistics.

I'm a Microbiology major, btw.

Yea, I hate math, and mandatory attendance 5 days a week(Only class other than lab on M and W. Friday it's my only class. LOL) will help me get the material easier.

Dude, Are you saying 50-55 hrs a week? a month? or the whole damn semester? Because if you are doing this per week this honestly seems almost impossible with the classes you are taking!

Well, I'm a chick lol 😉 Yes, a week. The last company I worked for required 60+ hours so I switched to a company that is more work-life friendly. I actually have every other weekend off now *yay* (well kinda). It's not really impossible at all. I was lucky to have a couple semesters where I didn't have to work and that was much nicer, but unfortunately the pay was too hard to give up.... rent, expensive car payment, phone bill, tuition, etc. There are many non-trads that do the same thing. I think it's just a matter of time management and I also don't have any kids... just a needy dog. If my GPA suffered, I'd definitely look for something that was a little easier to manage.

Wow. You are officially my new role model. And here I am bitching about my 7 credits, plus working 50-60 hrs a week, annoying various ED doctors under the pretense of shadowing, and finding time to go cave diving on the weekends. I bow down to you! 🙂

Classes:
Journeys (an intro to liberal arts class that all freshmen have to take)
Cell Biology w/ Lab
General Chemistry I w/ Lab
Calculus I

Probably not anything during school. I may do some tutoring spring semester.

LOL. The only thing I'm annoyed with right now is that I'm trying to schedule my shadowing hours with a couple of docs, but it's hard matching up their work schedule with my work and summer school schedule.

Cave diving... now that sounds pretty exciting!!! Well hopefully our work experience and working that many hours will only help us when we apply 🙂 I'm a junior, but since I switched majors I am going to take a fifth year. I can't waitttttttt to be able to quit my job if I get accepted in two years haha! 🙂
