Thanks Lea! I closed my browser, ran ccleaner, and it worked. man I can't believe this entire time it was open, I checked from 8:45! I thought I was banned already. Well my first blunt hit from pharmcas for the year, great 😛

What browser are you using? It doesn't work on Google Chrome (the web browser I'm currently using), but it works when I access it on FireFox....So, try a different web browser.

Yeah I use firefox 😛 But it had been open since yesterday until I closed it just now and tried again. I use Chrome sometimes too, they really need to get with the program 😛

I'm so excited! I've been waiting 2.5 yrs for this moment - since I returned to school to complete my prereqs. (I got my BS in 1995 in hotel administration.) I think my application is competitive (GPA, ECs, LORs...). It's all up to the PCAT now. I'm planning on taking it in 2 wks, in August, and in Oct if I need to!

I've just got accepted to LAS college at UIC and im going there in the Fall 2010 to finish up my pre-reqs. I went to Wright College before.
Im not done with pre-reqs until the end of the Spring 2011. Can I start on the application for this coming cycle (2010-11 cycle)?
And, I'm curious about the Pre-Pharm Club at UIC. Do you know about it and how do I join?

Yes you can start if you finish all your pre-reqs by the time your spring 2011 semester is over.

If you are finishing your pre-reqs in fall 2010 semester, you must wait until you get your grades for that fall 2010 semester before you can submit your supplemental application! You can submit your Pharmcas to UIC but you cannot submit your supplemental before your fall 2010 grades come in. Since you are at UIC, grades are up fairly quickly (one week's time after finals week).

The only downside to this is that you won't be able to apply for early admission. If you submit Pharmcas and the supplemental by some date in December, you are applying for early admission. Of course, you need to have ALL your pre-reqs done BEFORE the fall 2010 semester.

For regular admission, make sure that you finish all the UIC pre-reqs by spring 2011. They do not take pre-reqs for summer 2011!

I honestly did not join the Pre-pharm club at UIC. I was extremely lazy and felt it was not important because I would not be able to hold a position in the club (besides being a member). I believe there is a fee for joining and you must participate in some volunteer activities to maintain membership.

Instead, I think you should volunteer at UIC or Rush hospital. I accumulated approximately 80 hours at Rush and the experience was pretty good overall. The people there are very friendly and Leslie, the volunteer office coordinator at Rush, is awesome. If you need a rec letter, I would try to get one from Leslie. However, she'll only write you one if you complete 100 volunteer hours. I wasn't able to get a rec letter from her since I was short 20 hours but I promised her I would finish the remaining 20 hrs this summer.... (hopefully)

I understand the feeling! It really was a little surreal to actually create a login after talking about it for so long. I felt the same way when I registered for the PCAT. My husband and I decided that this would be the plan shortly after our first son was born... and he is three now! So far, things have went well, but I am very nervous about the PCAT in two weeks.

Wow! It's already that time again and there are so many early starters! Remember, you guys are in for the long haul. Pace yourselves and finish strong. Last year I started my application late since I own my own business and was extremely busy during the entire summer, but I think I was able to finish strong during the fall and winter. Quality of your applications is what matters the most, so start early and take your time. Good luck everyone!

I am one of the oddballs that is actually taking it prior to taking orgo (taking it in the Fall). I had an A+ in Gen Chem 1, A- in Gen Chem 2, and have been studying Organic Chemistry as a second language like my life depends on it.

I purchased the two PCAT tests offered by pearson and I've scored in the 80s on everything but Math - which has been in the mid 60s for me.

I'm a non-traditional student - 33yo, working full time, have a 19month old and I'm pregnant with #2 now (want to get them out of the way before school starts). PharmCAS GPA is about 3.4 (non-pharmcas is a little bit lower b/c of a couple of Ws). This would be a second career, transitioning from finance (I work at a hedge fund to be exact).

I'm applying up and down the east coast for the most part:

TJU, Temple, UMd, VCU (maybe?), UNC, Campbell, South, USC (Columbia), Mercer

We're in the same boat. What I thought would be 6 yr plan has turned into 8 yrs (b/c of intro classes I took and the timing of completing prereqs for the PCAT, leaving a 1 yr lag b/c prereqs and pharmacy college). Patience is virtue, right?

Hi everyone! I'm new to SDN. I am thankful for all the information you guys have shared. I will have my B.S. in Management/Accounting next month. I only needed one class to complete my degree. English 1301 can you believe that?? 🙂 Life's obstacles, twists and turns took me 3 years to return to school. I started out as a biology major, then transfered; however, pharmacy was always my dream. I wanted to be a Pharmacist since I was a kid. I am chasing my dream! No turning back, I have 4 more classes to complete to satisfy pre-reqs. I'm looking at 3 year PharmD programs only. Top choice LECOM. I'll also be taking the PCAT in October. I am extremely nervous🙁. I altered my entire life, I PRAY that I get into a decent 3 year program. Good Luck Everyone!!!!! 😀
