Hey guys,

Really I am frustrated now and super saturated with the issue😱. So problem is that I am in a BS/DO Program in TouroCOM NY. The Program consist of 7 years of which 3yrs of BS and 4yrs of medical school. The good part is that we are not bound to the program i.e we can shift to other medicals schools if we want.
So, I need your advise guys!!! should I move to some other medical school or should I stay here. Moving requires taking MCAT in the 2nd yr of BS as i dont wanna waste one yr.

Note: if i stay in the program I am sure i can meet the requirements.
Thanks alot😳

Is there a reason why you want to move? If you're all set and meet the requirements then I wouldn't move unless there's something you dislike about the school.

After 3yrs will you actually have a degree? Otherwise getting into another med school will be close to impossible. Don't take the MCAT before you have taken all the pre-reqs.

Why are you looking to leave?

How many years are you into the process? Why did you choose this school in the first place, has something changed about your perspective...?

Daedra, I am in the second year of the seven year program. I actually went there because it was an easy access to medical school and its close to where I live. I joined this program because I knew how tough it is to get into medical school.
Firstly, the school is new and there are a lot of things bad about it. But when I actually meet the professors and take my classes there, I feel like its not bad, its just new!!!
Secondly, the campus is small and administration is god damn lazy but still they do work on time in the end. I had plans of going to school with huge campus but I chose to become a doctor rather than enjoying the typical school life.
As I am doing really well in the 3 yr undergrad, GPA 4.0, i now think i should have gone to some other school. But my mom keep on saying its not worth to change schools until u move to MD school which I personally think impossible. For MD school I need MCAT of 31 or more and I dont think I can get greater than 30 at ideal situation because I suck at verbal.

So guys, is it worth to work hard and mess GPA a little bit and take MCAT before Pre-requisite are done (as I dont wanna a waste one yr - I will take MCAT in 2nd yr so that I can enter med school by the fall of 3yr) and take the pain of applying to schools again.
OR
just stay here and concentrate on my studies and take easy on MCAT and meet the requirement.

Any help is greatly appreciated!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Dang, stay where you are. NYCOM is a good school, many folks in my residency program came from that school. They have an OMM fellowship option which is nice. You are already on the doctor track which others only dream of. Don't mess it up on the dream of something better. Every school has its problems. You learn how to be a doc in residency anyway. I think if you try to change you will regret it later. There are problems with admin at every school - that's just life. Do what you need to do, graduate and then mold your life as a doctor how you choose. Listen to your mom, don't blow what you have.

Dude, problem is that I am in TouroCOM,,,,,, NOT NYCOM

You got choices. You can at the end of your 3rd year apply to medical schools and take a gap year or you can transfer to another undergrad institute and complete your pre-reqs and take the mcat. Personally Touro is a new school in NYC its got a lot of problems associated with it that make it weak. Those problems are specifically the rotation sites ( may improve with the owning of NYMC) and the comlex pass rates. Over 20% of the class fails the comlex the first time, this statistic makes Touro look very bad.

So your call transfer or stay and wait.

Just blow the year and live it up as a real college kid, then apply like normal people. Even NYCOMs rotations arent that great.

Hey guys,

Thanks alot!!!!!!!!!!! thanks alot for your input. I made my decision:idea:. I am staying in the program so far and if I score real HIGH on the MCAT then I will leave the program and after completing 3yrs of BS, take a gap year and apply for coming year. If I don't score good enough, then I am staying here (as I need 24 to survive) 😍😍😍

Ahhhhhhhhhh. Thanks guys... have a good night sleep😴😴😴😴😴
