i want to know some famous people who are med school dropouts(for whatever reason) and are now famous.
The first name to comes to mind is Carl Icahn.

Michael Crichton. Although I know he finished medical school, I think he just didn't complete residency. So he didn't drop out - he just obviously doesn't practice medicine now.

Wasn't he part of those euro 6-8 year programs? So I'm guessing 1st year classes are just like our college classes and not real med school classes?

Yes, but I think he did take some actual medical courses. I remember from his interview on ESPN that he talked about going to anatomy lab during the day and then to basketball practice at night. 6-8 year programs aren't structured exactly the same way as merely combining traditional undergraduate and medical education in the United States.

Netter was very talented at being an artist! Plus, I think it's pretty important to be a physician or anatomist to create something like his atlas. The new Netter images are by Dr. Machado, and he's pretty incredible as well.

In particular, pharmaceutical companies began seeking Netter for illustrations to help sell new products, such as Novocain. Soon after a misunderstanding wherein Netter asked for $1,500 for a series of 5 pictures and an advertising manager agreed to and paid $1,500 each - $7,500 for the series - Netter gave up the practice of medicine. In 1936, the CIBA Pharmaceutical Company commissioned a small work from him, a fold-up illustration of a heart to promote the sale of digitalis. This proved hugely popular with physicians and a reprint without the advertising copy was even more popular.

$7500 is a lot of cash in the middle of the Depression.

Based on wikipedia, Dustin Hoffman enrolled at Santa Monica College with the intention of studying medicine. LOL that's the closest he got to it. Although I read he was a chemist for Maxwell Coffee company.
