It states this in the Kaplan Bio. What would be the advantage for this process?

I'm rather surprised because I was under the assumption that all muscle cells used mostly aerobic respiration.

Fast twitch muscles are anaerobic because they are for quick short bursts of activity, no need or room for mitochondria. While slow twitch on the other hand, are constantly in use and for lengthy periods of time, and need mitochondria to prevent the stress that would result otherwise from the buildup of lactic acid from anaerobic respiration.

Yup fast - twitch = most anaerobic, they perform glycolysis the most and store more glycogen, as mentioned they provide fast energy but are quickly depleted (thats why you cant do too many bicep reps!)
