Ok, now that it's almost summer and I have some time on my hands, does anyone have a favorite TV doctor? I am not a big fan of ER because I have never seen an emergency room like that one, nor so much personal drama

My vote is for Doc - Clint Cassidy, MD on PAX tv. Billy Ray Cyrus' Montana doctor in New York City.

Anyone else ... ?

Dr. Nick Rivera, LOL

How about the doctor on Sanford and Son that says "I don't know" all of the time?

Dr. John Carter from ER. Great character, great show. 😀

I am a big ER fan and my favorite TV doc is John Carter (Noah Wyle). I think that the show has great writting, eventhough some of the hospital scenes are a bit over-dramatized.

To the comments made by woolie:

I have actually worked in ERs that are as busy and nerverecking as the ones scene on ER. Still, I agree that some of the things on the show are a bit unrealistic, but I guess they do it for the dramatic effect.

Hawkeye from M*A*S*H* the guy has a sense of humor, IS human and is affected by things other then patients, always knows the right thing to do, a great surgeon who isn't worried about publicty. The best guy to have on your side but the worst on the other.

Ok, well, maybe I'm just a little bit jealous of the ER guys too ... I'll admit to that. It really is a cool show and the writing is very good. I think I want to work there, and I totally get into the action when I do watch it. I like Dr Green (he's the bald guy?) and think I'm probably most like him.

I still like Clint Cassidy, MD even tho the PAX story lines are pretty simple. Something about the good vs. evil themes, and the mean Dr Crane (who went to JHopkins) versus kind Dr Cassidy who went to UMontana Medschool or North Dakota, and who brings the down home West to New York City.

Dr. John Carter because I get all the time that I am practically John himself!!!!!

The guy from Wallstreet on Scrubs.

Dr. Green!!! RIP on TV 😀

Useless trivia: Both Noah Wyle and his character Dr. Carter have the same birthday -- June 4, same as mine.

The funny thing is, Carter and I just turned 33, yet Wyle the actor is a year younger, having been born in 1971. In the first season of the show, Carter told someone his birthday, and they must have adjusted it so he'd be "age-appropriate" for a 4th year med student.

Pffft. I won't start med school 'til I'm 35. They shoulda had Carter take a year off. Traveling in Europe or something.

Until 'Scrubs' gets a sarcastic non-trad with a heart of gold, my choice for TV doc most like me would have to be John Dorian as well. Hawkeye Pierce is a lifelong hero of mine, though.

My vote is split between Hawkeye from the 4077th and Quincy.

I know, I'm a dork - I will still watch Quincy reruns on Hallmark and M*A*S*H on FX until school starts.

Although it is sci-fi, i've gotta go with Dr. McCoy from Star Trek, Bones!!

Dr. Dre and Dr. J.

Dont forget my homie Dr. Phil.

Dr. Robert "Rocket" Romano, ER:laugh:

Dr. John Dorian, from Scrubs, because he most resembles me. Decent human being. Cowardly, but gets the job done. Uber-dork. Idealistic. Humanistic. Cares for the patient, sometimes a little too much. 😀

I too like Dr. Dorian from Scrubs. My family tells me I'm just like him. I have a huge sense of humor and like to joke around a lot. I don't have the frequent daydreams like he does though.

My second favorite is Dr. Todd from Scrubs. High five!

   DR.RUTH    I will sleep with you dr.ruth anytime and you can teach me alot.

Hey,

Nobody mentioned Dr. Marcus Welby MD. He has my vote along with Quincy.

I must be getting to old!

How can I future pathologist NOT like Quincy,MD !! Yep, I've definitely just revealed my age 😱 😎

I guess I'm unimaginative, but I like Drs. Dorian and Carter as well.

I wonder if anyone's going to say Joey's faux doctor from Days of Our Lives?

What about Turk from scrubs?

He's pretty cool. Always bust'in out the dance moves or playing basketball and stressin about Carla.

John Dorian on Scrubs!

I wish I could watch that show more often, it is so funny, but I always find myself out of the house on Thursdays......so sad.

Definitely the Toddster - maybe he's not "all there" but can anyone imagine him not coming through in the clutch?

Wow. So many people like JD! He's ok, I guess, but Dr. Cox gets all the cool lines. 😛 He and Dr. Kelso are my favorites.

Dr. Cliff Huxtable The best Television Doc ever. Hands down.

Just thinking about his character makes me laugh.😀

Doc Rivers - he used to shoot the lights out.

Dr Corday!!!

She's my favorite cause she has that beautiful British accent 😍

Does anyone remember the Dr from Northern Exposure? (ok, I must be really old too ...) He was a Columbia grad trying to pay off his loans by working in Alaska? Joel something ... that was a good show. Maybe that's when I started to think about rural medicine ... it looked like a nice place to practice!

Dr. Rocket Romano and Dr. Pratt I hope to be a good hybrid of those two guys at the end of my medical school journey

Dr. Cox on scrubs - he is just halarious!

Dr. Dorian from Scrubs...I have that whole daydreaming type personality like him.

Todd from Scrubs is also real cool...and lets not forget Robert "Rocket" Romano.

And the chick from Scrubs is pretty cool too cause shes hot.

Has anyone seen that show "Strong Medicine"? --it's directed by Whoopi Goldberg for one of the sappy Women's Networks... the docs on that show have got to be the most annoying, most emotionally unstable physicians on TV---how is a doctor going to inspire confidence is she can't even discuss HRT without bursting into tears 🙄 🙄

I would have to go with Mandy Patinkin's Jeffrey Geiger from defunct Chicago Hope. I'm surprised no one's mentioned him yet!

I second that emotion... Geiger was classic!!!

Dr. Julius Hibbert
Simpsons' family doctor.
Graduated from Johns Hopkins University.
May have a twin brother that is the director at the Shelbyville Orphanage.

Good call.

Has anyone mentioned Dr. Drake Ramore??? Falling down an elevator shute, only to be brought back as an evil twin or as a transplanted brain . . . that's comedy!

Dr. Ross, but he isn't on ER anymore!

Doogie Howser, DO

Ah...yes, Dr. Joel Fleishman...he was funny! And, no - you're not old. I don't understand how the show managed to go on after he left and they had that other doctor (whose name escapes me). I always loved that moose walking around on Northern Exposure.

What was the name of his sidekick, played by James Brolin (Bab's new hubby in real life)? That character was enough to shy you away from medicine for life...
