This post is mostly just a rant for my feelings and also a request for advice on how to improve my situation. I've just finished my first semester and so far my GPA is a 3.37. All my friends are saying that it's your first semester and that you're transitioning so it's fine and I understand that. I know that some people say it could be worse or that you can improve but honestly I'm scared that I can't. I feel discouraged and I'm trying to do what I can over the winter break to bring back my confidence but honestly I don't know if I can. So this is my cry for help. What do I do? How do I stay focused next semester? I feel that my weakness for this semester what that I started the semester strong and then I began to procrastinate. And also another big issue is how do I do well in Bio Lab. How do I study for that?

If you tend to procrastinate, then before you say "I can wait until tomorrow", think again. Make sure you realize that you can only say that a finite amount of times.

Your GPA is not the end the world. It is still recoverable. Sure, classes are only going to get harder. However, if you manage your time well, you can do better.

Do you guys have any tips on how to manage time better?

Basically just make sure you're not saying "this can wait until tomorrow" too often. And then try to make good use of time in between classes.

Prioritize your time efficiently, and don't slack off. If you're having trouble with some courses, go to your institutes learning center. Your GPA isn't terrible, an upward trend from here would be beneficial.

I see. Thank you all for the advice.

Keep your spirits up - mental well being is truly half the battle. A positive mentality makes everything seem more accomplishable. If you're struggling, seek out counselling - your school likely has free counsellors.

Find the things that are distracting you and keep you procrastinating (video games, Reddit, whatever) and try to limit how much time you spend doing those. For computer websites I know there are a lot of different apps/programs that'll block them from your access for a certain period of time (i.e. SelfControl). Just try to find a way to prevent yourself from getting distracted and really just force yourself to get stuff done. I'm sure you know this but once you start something it's a million times easier to keep doing it once you get into it, so really the hardest part is just starting things.

Allot times during your study sessions for a break/procrastination. I like to use an alarm that rings every half-hour to give myself some time to stretch/check facebook/do whatever.
