Hey all,
So this is my first post, and after being a long time lurker, I just wanted to thank everyone for their contributions. And I want to take this time to apologize for the unorganized wall of text that is to follow. So here it goes....
First of all, these are my stats:
B.S. Biology, finishing after the fall semester, I am applying with
3.28 Science GPA
3.36 Overall GPA
(I understand these are below average, but I have maintained a job throughout my college career, and feel it can be forgiven. I also addressed it in my personal statement.)
Took the DAT June 26 ,2014
22 AA
21 TS
21 PAT

I currently started work as a dental assistant for a busy practice, they have started me at 40 hrs a week, I should have a year of experience in by the time I hopefully start. I have TA'd for both general chemistry labs, and anatomy and physiology labs.

Here's the thing, I can't for the life of me get my final letter of rec. I have one from a dentist I've shadowed, and I have one from my Orgo 2 prof. It's the last one that no one seems to want to write. Should I apply? Is it too late to apply? When should I e-submit? I don't really know what to do, and feel like I'm wasting time. I want to thank you all in advance for your advice and contributions. And wish everyone good luck!

Idk, but if you're now thinking of applying and with those stats, I'd wait for next cycle and submit once you can. I'm not saying you shouldn't apply, but I'm telling you what I would do. Because applying again is harder, you'll get asked 'what improvements you made'

Does your school have a Health Profession Committee?

They do not, I've been trying to get in touch with my physiology prof. Who I ended up TAing for, but I'm just wondering if it's too late in the cycle to bother

Thank you for your input

I think if you get the letter by the end of July you won't be "late" you'll be just on time. And I saw people still got interviews from Nova without all their letters in yet

ASK EVERY SCIENCE TEACHER YOU'VE HAD.

Yes, I think you should apply! Ideally, you would get that letter within the first two weeks of July.

Apply! Its not too late! Just bug your science profs! GPA isn't that bad and DAT is very good! I think you'll be okay.

Dude this is your career on the line. Beg plead steal pillage cry whatever it takes get the friggin letter! Someone will write it for you if you show them how much it means to you. Get everything submitted by early August and you're good to go.

I agree, your stats are not too bad. Your DAT is really good too. Get those letters and apply! If your school has a pre-health committee, check how long they take to process those letters too.

with your stat, it is shame if you don't apply. do whatever necessary.

Don't listen to this advice. Your GPA is below average for most schools, but it's still high enough to get accepted somewhere. Your DAT scores are slightly above average, so that's to your advantage. Ask every science prof you've had. You don't want one letter be the hangup to applying and have to wait another year to apply
