I guess I'm doing okay academic wise, but not my extracurriculars. I volunteer at a hospital, tutor, do research, and that's about it. When I look at other people, they probably have more than 1000+ hours of volunteering, tutor 2-3 subjects, and have publications... it just makes me feel so depressed and worthless right now and how much additional time i will need to spend after i graduate to even think about applying...

Having 1000+ hours volunteering and multiple publications is pretty rare.

Stop comparing yourself to what you think others are doing, and especially stop comparing yourself to SDN.

Very very few people have anywhere near 1000 hours, very very few pre-meds have meaningful publications. Do your best and do what you're interested in, because quality always trumps quantity.

To make you feel better:

Translator for Pre-med EC bragging:

1.) "I'm volunteering at X hospital, seeing patients--it's a really great experience. I've got about 400 hours done now."

Meaning

"I move stuff around the hospital when I'm told to, and play on my phone in the meantime."

2.) "I've been doing research for a couple years now, I'm gonna have a publication pretty soon."

Meaning

"I sit in lab a couple hours a week, run a gel or two when the PI says, and have yet to complete a successful protocol."

Compare yourself to the 15% of all 300 million Americans who live in poverty. You're not doing too bad.
