I am almost done with TMDSAS and started AMCAS today.
I'm most likely going to a TX school if I get more than one acceptances and I probably have a better chance in my home state as well.

I'm throwing in about five private schools on AMCAS that match my GPA an MCAT, just in case. I just feel terrible now because I'm wasting my money on schools that I don't even know very well about.

Most of Tx schools I know very well because I have friends who go there and my advisor knows them front and back. I went through the private schools' websites and read some of the MSAR descriptions but it's just not the same as having three years worth of information, you know?

Is anyone else (not just TX residents) feeling the same way?

I was thinking about this just the other day. I don't know how I would justify spending out-of-state money if I got accepted to any Texas MD school. We also have the best DO school in the nation. It seems impossible to beat the bang-for-your-buck of a Texas medical education. Plus, as you said, I know all about all the different programs and curricula of Texas schools whereas I'm really applying everywhere else just so I can get in SOMEWHERE.

Sigh.
