My feet kill me after work. It's not my sneakers as I wear comfortable sneakers. Does anyone recommend any insoles that can relieve some foot pain from being on my feet 12 hours/day.? Thanks.

Okay, so I just started full time IPPEing (has to be one of the worst gigs ever) and I am having the same problem. At least according to the people in my pharmacy, after so many hours on your feet, your feet and legs are going to be sore and there is not much you can do about it. There are some jobs in the pharmacy that you could do sitting down (e.g. entering scripts, counting pills), so I'm not sure why we can't just sit down. Is a stool too much to ask for?

To a certain extent, you'll get used to it; when I first started working, the tech at that store was nearly 60 and a cancer survivor, and she was better at standing all day than twenty-something me.

What I do now, though, is wear custom-made orthotics (my benefits pay for 'em). They seem to help the knees a bit, too.

besides getting used to it is there anything I can buy OTC..> I know there are a bunch of products such as gel soles and other things. I just dont want to waste my money.. Has anyone tried any of these?

I second the getting used to it idea. With one of my retail rotations, after an 8 hour day, I practically had to drag my foot home b/c I was in so much pain.

Anyways, there is another thread here types of shoes to wear.

Check your health insurance and see if they cover it. A few years back when I used to run a lot, I was able to get some free custom insoles from my insurance provider.

To find out about custom insoles from my insurance would I go to my primary care physician and ask him about it or would I call my insurance directly? How would I go about getting custom insoles?

To find out what your insurance covers, you'd call them directly; your dr may not have the right info.

when i took organic lab it was 6 hours long and the girls took all the chairs. it pretty much got me used to standing all day. if there is ever a mini break at work i prop my feet up in the back and let the blood come rushing back
