Feinberg November Decisions

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
No news for anybody? 👍 ?

Hi everyone,

Like someone who posted above, I, too, recently interviewed at Feinberg and was told that we would all probably be in the Feb. decision group. However, my status page says that a decision is pending, so my question is if it says this no matter what or just if you will be considered in the first group. Any ideas?

Cheers and good luck to all

My status page says "A final decision is pending on your application."
It has said this since the day after I interviewed in late September.

It looks like Monday is going to be the big day!

WRT the question about your status:

I believe your status changes to "final decision pending" the day after you interview. I don't think it reflects whether or not you are being considered for the November or February/March acceptance group.

Hope this helps!

I can't wait until Monday!!!

:luck: :luck: :luck: everyone

Ditto that danjo. Good luck, fingers and toes crossed.

Did anyone's status page change this weekend? Mine still says the same thing 🙁

Mine was the same as of yesterday.

Good luck to every hopeful Feinberg applicant tomorrow...we're all pretty convinced that it is the real judgement day. : D.

mines still the same, hopefully some news(good) will come tomorow👍

That reminded me to check my status and alas, it is the same. I hope upon hope (upon hope) that it will change this next week because I am an inpatient girl.

Good luck guys. I interviewed nov 17th, same day the commitee met so I just missed the november cutoff

I interviewed a little before that and I think I may have too. Doesn't that kinda suck? So close, but nuts, not soon enough. I guess this is where we develop patients, if we don't already have it of course >cough<

I think today is going to be the day! Good luck everyone - I hope to see you all in the Feinberg Class of 2011 thread!

P.S. My status page still states that a final decision is pending as well.

If and when the status page changes, will it say anything about acceptance/rejection/hold, or just that a "final decision" has been reached, and we are still left wondering what it is?!

Anybody know what percentage of their offers go out now versus in February?

They are up. Check your status page. Mine has a very cryptic letter: Now that I reread it I'm not totally sure what it means...

Dear NovemberWhiskey,

It warms my heart to see that so many of you are not only accepted to Feinberg, but are holding several acceptances at other fine medical schools across the country. You are indeed remarkable, and make a wonderful addition to the extraordinary Feinberg Class of 2010.

Choosing a medical school can be a daunting thought especially when you are faced with so many personally attractive choices. Keep in mind that wherever you decide to attend, it should be a medical school where you can feel "comfortable" with the school and its environment. Specifically,

philosophy and mission;
teaching modality and content of the curriculum;
diversity of your prospective classmates;
faculty accessibility and their academic and research interests;
overall medical school environment;
opportunities for personal and professional growth and development (community service, research, abroad experiences, etc.);
and geographic location.

By choosing a "comfortable" environment in which to learn, you will likely be very pleased with the four years you'll spend in medical school and quite happy with your performance.

Second Look Weekend will give you the opportunity to "look us over" one more time. The weekend experience should help answer many questions for you while you ponder which medical school to attend. If you did not register for Second Look Weekend and therefore am not attending, there are still other information avenues at your disposal: peruse the electronic newsletter for Feinberg updates and links to opportunities available to you as a medical student, examine our website of more than 50 pages of up-to-date Feinberg news and information, and directly contact our Special Projects Coordinator, Ms. Pamela Meadows at [email protected] to answer your medical school questions, concerns, or toss around thoughts.

If Spring Break is just around the corner for you, enjoy it, and look forward to more news from us as we guide you to your first day at Feinberg.

Sincerely,

Delores G. Brown, M.S., M.Ed
Associate Dean of Admissions

I think something is messed up... it also gives me information on signing up for last years 2nd look weekend...

Sigh....of course thats a good thing...

NW was my first choice- not looking good 🙁

Mine still says decision is pending

It's definetly last year's message... "March Message" etc, but hopefully it just means they dropped us in the accepted bucket and haven't gotten around to changing the page.

Yeah, I got the March Message too. Super-psyched. Hope to see you all April 6-8.

If the fact that it's last year's message is a bad thing, then I'm going to seriously cry when they revoke what seems like an admission.

I think they just forgot to update the Java or HTML script when they changed people's status messages. Reminds me a little of what Cornell undergrad did with early decision applications, my senior year of high school. They accidentally sent accepted emails to everyone, and had to send "sorry, just kidding!" follow-ups. Let's hope these Feinberg acceptances are for real!

If everyone gets this then it's gotta be fake but if some people are getting other messages it's probably real... Let's hope its not fake, I already called my parents before reading it twice :-/

Is anyone going to call and ask about it (I'm a little shy)?

I take solace in the fact that some people are getting different status pages. I have no guts, so I'm hoping someone else calls. :-D?

I just called the office. The woman who answered said it was just a technicality and that people receiving acceptance letters are in. She wasn't the most reassuring person, but she said flat out, "it is" an acceptance.

I just called in and the lady apparently seemed annoyed by the calls. All she told me was that the decisions are in the mail, and the website was flawed to link to last year's acceptance thread. I still hope that it's a good news though! omg!

Yes. I wouldn't mind another sdn'er calling the office though because the lady didn't say anything like, "Oh, I'm sorry, yeah, it's an acceptance, don't worry." I told her that I wanted to make sure that it wasn't some sort of error, but that they'd just forgot to update their message. I flat out asked if it was an acceptance and she said, "it is." So, I think we have reason to be excited.

damn it I can't get my work done. anybody know if they are calling to reassure?

I'm fairly positive that the letter being there is an acceptance. Having said that, what kind of pre-med would I be without having the obsessive need to know for sure?

I called also and got the standard "all decisions will be sent by mail." I didn't probe any further.

Anyone have Dean Brown's card? someone should give her a call 🙂

Sorry, I have no number. They give her e-mail though on the website.

Count me in the group with the confusing "A March Message to Feinberg Accepted Students" letter.

Man, I hope this is an acceptance! NW is one of my top choices, and I don't want to wait for the slow slow USPS. :scared: 😕

Good news for you guys--I'm pretty positive that IS an acceptance. I interviewed there, and I don't have that message. If some people have it and others don't, then it's almost definitely an acceptance.

When was your interview, Towelie? I was 10/17, but if you were significantly later, maybe you just didn't make the cut-off for the November decisions.

:luck: to you no matter what!

I interviewed around when you did, so I did make the cutoff for November decisions.

Thanks for your support, but it isn't necessary. I was really unimpressed with virtually everything about Northwestern (except for the area in Chicago, which was gorgeous), and so wouldn't have gone there over any other school I applied to. I think that, unfortunately, my negative perception of the school might have come through in the interview.

For those that have received the "March Letter," that is an acceptance!!!

Can't wait to see you all at Second Look!!!

hey
we interviewed on the same day!

anyone who interviewed on 10/20 get the message? mine still says decision pending

congrats everyone who got the acceptance! my status page didn't change at all (says final decision is still pending), so i guess I'll have to wait until March to hear back 🙁 Maybe i'll be lucky enough to join y'all at second look weekend!

btw, did anyone who interviewed 10/31 or later hear anything?
