Currently, I am trying to prep myself for pharma fellowship interview questions while I have time during the summer but I am not sure where and how to start; I have no idea what information pharma fellowship interviewers are interested in. Unfortunately, I only know individuals who have applied to and received residencies but I'm sure that there are many differences in the interview experience. Please help! Thanks in advance.

Best,
HelloFellow

In many ways the interview questions will be very similar to a residency interview... strengths, weaknesses, why industry, why an industry fellowship, what sets you apart, etc, etc.

The majority of questions are fairly typical behavioral questions, like 'tell me about a time when you disagreed with someone. how did you handle that situation?'

Know how to answer those with good examples.

As you get closer to midyear and figure out which specific fellowships you're interested in, learn more about the position and company so you can ace the interview.

Different people ask different questions. And different positions may skew towards different type of questions. Some companies have interview guides that interviewers follow, but most of us just go with the flow. A good interview is a conversation that flows naturally, not an interrogation.

Practice your behavioral-based aka STAR interview questions. Have a few specific examples in mind regarding team-playing, leadership, innovation, project-management, and/or dealing with conflict. Always end your responses positively.

There may also be curve ball questions like "what drug would you be and why".

Definitely google STAR questions and answer in that exact format (say the SITUATION, the TASK assigned, the ACTION you took, and the RESULT)... where possible be quantitive !

After you review a few core competencies they should all flow much easier -- I definitely suggest you practice with friends before midyear!
