I currently have 4 pre-requisites completed for DPT programs.

1 semester of Bio, Chem, Physics and Stat with a 3.93 gpa in them.

By the end of the fall semester I will have added 4 more pre-reqs to that list
A 2nd chem course, a 2nd Bio course, psychology, and anatomy and physiology

By the end of the spring semester I will have a total of 10 completed adding another physics and another anatomy and physiology.

Even with these all being completed by the end of spring 2012 will they be too late for applications for a fall 2012 entrance date or will schools still consider me?

Thanks for any thoughts or advice. I'm very nervous that i will have to wait another year.

as long as you can have everything completed by the program start date, and you have some done now, you'll be considered.

From my standpoint (and take this with a grain of salt), your GPA is great, and you've done basically the first class in each of the core sciences, so it shows you're pretty well-rounded/strong in that respect. Chances are some schools may wait until the academic update period (in December when they let you update your transcripts with fall course grades) to make any decisions just so they can see how your fall classes come out...some schools don't look at anything until Dec or Jan anyway, so for those it's no biggie.

I was in a similar situation...when I applied in the summer, I had done Physics I, anatomy, chem I, stats, and all the psych prereqs...in the fall I did bio I and micro (which counted as bio II for the schools I applied to), chem II, and two physiology courses. Then in the spring I did physics II and calc. And I got in and/or interviews at every school I applied to, and my prereq GPA was not 3.93 (I think it was like 3.6 or something like that at the time).

Did you already take the GRE? If so, and if it's strong, that'll help too...and if you have all of your observation (and a variety of observation) hours done. Basically, where you're lacking in your application (in your case being "behind" others in prereq completion), try to make up for it in other areas...that might have been my saving grace - I had all my hours done, with some pretty unique and solid experiences, and did well enough on the GRE to back up the rest of my app.

Good luck!

Thanks for your response.
I think i have a fairly strong GRE score with a 1270. math: 690 verbal: 580 writing: 3 and about 120 observation hours at 2 different locations.

What you said makes sense and I hope that what I have will at least have them waiting for my fall grades. thanks.

It depends on the schools. For ex., UNC requires that all of your pre-reqs be completed by the previous Dec, for Fall entry: if you want to start in Aug 2012, you have to have all the pre-reqs done by Dec 2011. On the other hand, East Carolina Univ. allows you to take your pre-reqs all the way until you start PT School, as long as you finish them before starting PT classes.

If you are applying to a PTCAS school, pull up its page on PTCAS. The specific rules for that school will be spelled out very clearly.

I'm in a similar situation in that I'm completing my prerequisites after I've applied to PT schools (1 anatomy course, 2 physiology courses). Most schools just want you to finish up before their program start date, which makes sense.

If you want to be really sure of this, contact the schools you're interested in and confirm your plan for completing prereqs is okay with them. I made a live appointment for advising at one school to make sure my planned completion of prereqs was within their requirements/expectations, and it turned out to be a very interesting meeting since I got additional, helpful information about the program from the advisor, who was super nice.
