Wrong question/line of thinking. Private schools cost more than state schools. a Private MD school will cost more than a state DO school. A State MD school will cost less than a private DO school. A private MD school will cost roughly the same (give or take) as a private DO school

There are more private DO schools compare to state DO schools than there are private MD schools compare to state MD schools.

Some of the most expensive medical schools in the countries are private MD schools.

So instead of lumping all DO schools together and all MD schools together, look at the tuition of individual schools that you are interested in attending.

Some of the larger MD schools (with large private endowment) also offer more scholarships than most schools (majority of MD and DO schools)

As far as I know, DO schools are not supported by the state so they have to charge more for tuition to make up the difference. The tuition at private allopathic schools is comparable to a DO school.
