I think they'd chastise him for his enthusiasm in spite of hard data. But otherwise, they would likely see this - if proven effective - a much more cost-effective and less morbid alternative to TDR or fusion.
 
IS this guy serious? He's basically doing a discogram but w/o a Mask, gown, or a cap??

He claims to 'restore the height' of the disc as well........
 
I think when a disc is severely narrowed the person has more facet pain as the joint assumes more of the load. Some people have disc pain without much loss of height. The nucleus has no nerves. I just don't get the rationale for intra-discal anything.
 
The live fluoro did appear to show the endplates separating (or maybe I was seeing things). If nothing else, seems more logical than ozone or methylene blue intradiscally.

It would be great to have better solutions that are nonsurgical for discogenic pain. My suspicion is the initial very positive anecdotal evidence will ultimately be refuted by poor outcomes in clinical trials.

Can't see the video! But his study is quite old! if I remember correctly, he published it one of ISIS news letter in 2007. As per this study, he put 1 ml fibrin sealant after IDET or Nucleoplasty.
Interseted in others view of various Intradiscal therapies, please contribute!

I'm surprised he doesn't mix some Omnipaque into his concoction...unless there is some issue with them mixing...I would be way too paranoid about epidural spread of "stuff that congeals" ala PMMA for vertebral augmentation.
 
I think it makes a lot of sense. Big deal if it spreads into the epidural space, there is generally some room for fibrin mass there, and fibrin has been used for PDPH patches directly in the epidural space so should be safe. Hope this turns out.

agree, in loss of disc height, its physics. the joint is suppose to have some height to have it in proper place, from the disc. its a spacer

The annulus has a nerve supply: The sinovertebral nerve and GRC.
