Hi,

I was just wondering if anyone did anything unconventional to obtain an interview at a program... nothing crazy. Just stuff like writing a letter to the program director or making an appointment to speak with him to help him see past your status as an FMG. Any motivational tips as to how to encourage people to evaluate your application without the fog-colored glasses.

It just gets so frustrating to see other people with poorer credentials get interviews that you as an FMG would never get!!

Anyways, any advice would help. I know many people have achieved some pretty remarkable things. If they could speak up, I'd appreciate it.

Thank you.

I wrote letters to those programs that rejected me. I sent them snail mail, with an actual signature. I said I could understand how difficult it must be to continually wade through hundreds of applications to find those 8-12 candidates that would continue to uphold the high standards they had set through years of hard work. I said I was disappointed that they in fact had perhaps found my credentials somehow lacking, yet assured them that I was in fact a candidate they would have found to be a great asset.

I got two interviews out of the 15 rejections I recieved and responded to. I did not match at either of them, but got my first choice anyway.

Hey thanks for the reply. It is difficult because I know some of these programs aren't even looking at my application!! Anyways, I 'll certainly try your suggestions and see what happens. Congrats on matching so well.

Continued luck to you.

:luck:
