Hi everyone, I'm a non-traditional student whose returning to complete his biology prereqs. I have a cgpa of 3.1 from the school I graduated from which is where a majority of my credits are from. However, I did the transfer for a year and did about 24 credits and had a 2.5. My pre-med advisor at my current school gave me a calculator to plug all my grades into and combined I have a 2.95. I understand the ANCAS combines the GPA to get a science GPA and cgpa, I don't have much of a science GPA since I was a psych major, but is there any way I could get a more accurate combined GPA? This originally concerned me, however the med advisor explained that the transcripts act as a history, while it can be off-putting it also shows a students progress and upward trends. I'm already set on applying for SMP and other master programs to show I can handle the advanced work, as was advised by pre-med at my school. Especially programs with DO linkages. Where can I find a more accurate calculation of the combined GPA, as I'm using an excel spread sheet and I'm sure I probably left out a few grades by mistake

This.

Just plug all the grades and credits of all the course you have ever taken. This will be your combined GPA.

Your science GPA comes from physics, chemistry and biology courses.

Did you transfer after you graduated? This part is confusing. Please explain.

No, I transferred in between, following.some family issues I thought I might.do better with a change of environment (I wasn't the wisest when I was younger). Looking at my transcript it turns out I did take some very basic bio courses, with a D in two of them (retaking) a total of 24 hours, between chem and bio. Although they're not prereq bios they still count as sciences, what really hurt is one of them was 7c so I'm at a 1.9sgpa, even the Bs didn't help too much. But I still have a bunch more credits so I can certainly raise that.

If you have 1.9 sGPA for 24 credits that means you need to take about 30 credits with all As to get to 3.0 sGPA. And around 55 to get to 3.5 sGPA if my math is correct.

I crunched the numbers, I understand I only need some prereqs to technically be able to apply, but since the basic prereqs will take me 2 years the chems alone, I figured since I need to be at least halftime to get my loan, I might as well do about 14/15 credits since a lot are labs. Get the extra work. So I'm looking at 60 credits over 2 years if I can manage As I should be able to bring my GPA to a fighting position before SMP. This seems do-able, HARD but certainly in the realm of possible. Also, if that were done, that upward trend would be amazing!
