Anyone know of schools that have already filled thier classes, meaning that they are only offering waitlist spots?

I know Loyola is one. And they are still interviewing through April. Go figure.

That has to be the dumbest possible way to interview. I hope they ask me to interview with them so I can reject them.

Not really. For most schools, there is quite a bit of movement off of the waitlist because many applicants hold multiple spots & hold out for a "better" spot. The schools like to have a substantial waitlist to work from to fill those late-opening spots. If you're on the waitlist, you at least have a chance. If you refused an interview or waitlist spot because it wasn't a straight out acceptance, you're out of luck.

Read up on Loyola... maybe even visit. You'd be LUCKY to get interviewed by them and even LUCKIER to get accepted.

When I went to the NJMS accepted student luncheon on Jan 9th, the dean mentioned something about having filled up most of the spaces already (save for a couple more interviews already lined up) but after that, they go to the alternate list.

I tend to agree. Filling up a class in mid January does not seem like the best way to go. Unless they had planned that the most they want to offer those people who interview after thier class is full (e.g. me) is an waitlist spot anyway, without getting to see thier personal qualities. I recently interviewed there and it seemed like there were a lot of very qualified students, number-wise, so that doesn't really seem to be the case. I think they are a little trigger happy with thier acceptances early on. I think waiting untill the end of February, to give that many more people a chance to interview, would be much better for applicants and the school.

Also, I feel bad for those people I interviewed with that flew in from the east coast, and already have other acceptances that compare with or beat out Loyola. Then they get told first thing that they have no chance at anything but a waitlist spot.

I was wondering if any other schools have filled thier classes so early.

alreadyindebt,

There is no need to condescend and imply I am unqualified to goto Loyola. I have nothing against the school, except their admissions policy, which is simply silly. It basically precludes August MCATers (specifically those who did not also take the test in April and have submitted their secondary) from direct admission.

i'm not quite sure about this, but i hear that Temple might be full as well, and they are now interviewing for their waiting list. this really sucks seeing as how i just scheduled my interview with them.....
sigh

I never mentioned anything about your qualifications. I don't even know what they are, but you are applying, which says something, right? There is nothing wrong with their admissions policy. Every school has waitlists... Loyola gets started earlier. I know if I get accepted to a CA school, I will give up my spot to Loyola ASAP. I bet those people who went to interview for a waitlist spot will be glad that they made the trip out there when my spot opens up, don't you? I think you spoke in haste, as did I. Sorry

That would be a good idea. I'm going to withdraw my Temple acceptance soon opening up a seat.
