Hello everyone! I have a quick question that applies to many electronic applications so hopefully others can help me out here!

I'm trying to fill out application sections that ask me to list all the colleges I attended. Does this mean I should --- in addition to the school where I received my degree --- include the college where I took just one course? I took it the summer after my freshman year to get statistics out of the way and the class fully transferred and counted as fulfilling my stats requirement for my Psych Major. The stats class is listed on my transcript as such.

If I should include it as a college I attended on my applications, does that mean I have to send all the schools I'm applying to a transcript from this course in addition to the transcript from my school? I did get an A in the class but the grade is not listed on my unofficial transcript and I have no idea whether the grade would be listed on my official transcript. Regardless, the course only counted towards my overall number of credits and as fulfilling the stats requirement, it does not look like it was included in calculating my GPA.

Thanks so much!

Simple answer: Yes, you need to list every institution you ever attended and send official transcripts from every institution, even if it shows up on another transcript.

Yep. It seems silly, but several institutions will consider your application incomplete until they receive a transcript from every college you've attended. You'll actually need to be especially conscientious about this because your primary college mentions it on your transcript. This will trigger the grad schools to be on the lookout for another transcript.

When I applied, I actually had to send transcripts from a school I never even attended. My high school had this system in place where certain classes automatically counted as credits at the local community college (our version of AP classes, since we didn't actually have those). So, despite the fact that I never went to the community college or ever intended to go there, I had to send transcripts from there to my grad schools.

Erg, that's annoying. Hopefully I can still easily order that transcript, I took the class back in 2006! However, I still have my student ID # saved from that school so it shouldn't be a big problem.

Thanks!

I would imagine they still have your transcript, 2006 isn't necessarily that long ago. Check their online website, most places now let you order transcripts electronically.

I still order transcripts from well before then. You should be fine. 😛

Thanks all, just faxed them a request to have one sent to me for my records. I'm curious to see what it looks like 😛

I'm having the same problem for 3 classes I took at a community college one summer. The thing that makes me mad is that my university gives you 12 free transcripts and additional ones for $2, but the community college only give you 3 for free and they are $5 for each additional ones. Looks like I'm going to have to shell out 50 bucks for the transcripts from the community college and only $2 for my university. :eyebrow:

Oy, that's annoying! I should look into pricing from my schools, although I haven't seen anything that suggests a cap in the number of free transcripts. You would think we pay enough for tuition so that mailing transcripts would be free for as many as we'd like (within reason)!

It should be said I applied in 1999, but I am almost 100% sure that I didn't send a transcript for the 1 class I took at my hometown university. It never occurred to me and no one ever mentioned it. It is probably not best practice, but I though I'd share to help decrease the anxiety level around here. 🙂

Yeah, I applied last year and had CC courses plus courses taken at a university abroad (for which transcripts did not even exist!). I checked with the schools I was applying to and most said that sending my UG's transcript was fine as long the other classes were on there. One said I had to send my study abroad transcripts, but I just told them I couldn't and they dealt with it.This varies by school, but it wouldn't hurt to check, especially if it's costing $.

Hmmm.... most explicitly state wanting ALL post-high school transcripts, but my uni's transcript does list my transfers. I guess it wouldn't hurt to email. Luckily, while making my list of addresses for schools and such, I discovered 2 schools were ok with unofficial transcripts (you only send official ones if you get an interview or accepted). Wish they all would do that!

When I applied last year, I had to send in transcripts from three schools (none of the schools sent them for free, ugh). It was really frustrating and expensive since I applied to 17 schools, but I thought it was worth it, to make sure my application was listed as complete... I did ask a couple of schools and they all said it was mandatory so then I just sent it out to all schools after that.
