So I noticed the fafsa only lets you fill it out for 10 schools initially. Is there a point in going through the effort to add the more than 10 or should I just wait and only add schools that I receive an acceptance at?

I just filled it out last week. I added 4 schools for which I am pending decision as well as the one for which I plan on attending. Per what I heard from financial aid staff at interviews, I'm just going to add schools if I receive later interviews. If I receive more than 5 from now (lol, I won't), I will just not add any further schools unless I plan to attend them over my current top choice acceptance.

There is a work around for this. But tip #1 - only send FAFSA to schools you've interviewed at. Otherwise its not worth it.

The way FAFSA works is that when you click submit, the information gets transmitted to the schools you listed. If you remove those schools - they still have the initial info, they just won't get updates if you change anything. So you can add 10 schools, submit, remove all 10, add a different 10, submit, and all 20 schools get the info.

Thanks I'll try that! I'll add the rest of the schools I've interviewed at.
