Filling up interview slots

Do schools generally try to fill up all of their interview dates? Like if they send out a few waves of invites, but still realize that theres 10-20 spots open, will they try to fill all of them? And if people cancel, do they offer more invitations until all of the spots are taken?

Depends on the program. One program I know kept sending out invites despite the fact that the interview calendar was full. Another I know added additional interview slots because they invited a bunch of people and still had a lot of people they wanted to have the chance at seeing. Another, I e-mailed in late December and they gave me the option of 3-5 interview dates to pick from within 24 hours, so clearly were not being too aggressive filling those slots.
