Hi everyone,

Canadian nursing student here interested in DO schools. I'm in my last semester of school and I will officially only have 2 courses this semester in my transcript. 1 is the regular 3 hour lecture/week and the other is a clinical course where I'm in the hospital 40-48hrs/week which is why I can't accommodate the traditional full course load. My school has a special clause for final semester nursing students where they consider us as full-time. Will DO adcoms do the same or will I be labelled as a part-time student?

Thanks for the input

I really don't think med schools care. I applied and was accepted into DO school this rotation.
For no other reasons than I didn't want to take any other classes/didn't need them to graduate/had already taken everything I would find fun. I took 5 credits worth of classes, a retake with its new lab, and a paper writing science class that was very work intensive but was only worth 2 credits (2 8 week classes worth 1 each but we put in the work of at least 3 credits each).

It never came up in my DO or MD interviews.

I second the above post. My last semester I took 8 credit hours because that's all I needed to graduate. What's the problem with being a "part-time" student?

Thanks for the reply, just wanted to clarify. I've been told by another premed student that adcoms may look unfavourably on applicants who do not take a full course load.
