Hey everyone,

I'm in a state of disbelief...my application has finally been processed and sent to schools. I checked my printed AMCAS this morning, and lo and behold I had a date of 8/14 for "date processed." I also received an e-mail from a school yesterday saying that they had received my VERIFIED application from AMCAS. I feel like I'm flying on clouds; I thought this day would never come. For those who are curious, here are my dates:

submittal: 7/1
presence of "change notification" button: 8/6
processed (for certain): 8/14

They're finally getting things moving at a rate faster than molasses...Good luck to the rest of you. Now, I have to concentrate on the MCAT.

:)

I was SO excited yesturday, too:

submitted: 6-22
change notification: 7-28 (or earlier?)
processed: 8-14

I only got the change notification and processing after I called AMCAS directly. I'm not sure if that is why it happened or if it was just a coincidence. Good luck everyone!

submitted 7/2. button changed about 7/28. nothing else happened. my file isn't complete at any schools. basically, my life is in shambles. hehe.

Submitted 6/23 - nothing at all has changed for me. I called AMCAS today and they basically told me that they are in an "interim" period where they are focusing on getting our unverified applications to schools. She also told me to disregard the "print application" status at the top because they are still having problems with it. I was told that I can be 100% confident that my application is done when I receive an email saying that my app has been transmitted to schools. When I told the "specialist" that people got processed yesterday, she pulled a Clinton on me and completely gave me a runaround.

I hate AMCAS.

Amy Beth,

I've been following your posts for awhile. Don't despair; I know your day will come soon. Those slow pokes will pick up the pace once they realize that they're in a cauldron of bubbles waiting to boil over... (strange analogy, I know)

I will celebrate with you when your day comes. Do you have a "change notification" button yet?

I have not been processed either. It is becoming more and more frustrating with every passing day.

However, Dartmouth sent me an email saying that

"This email is to confirm that we have received your secondary application and
your letters of recommendation to Dartmouth Medical School."

Too bad I'm still missing my AMCAS primary.

What is the direct telephone # to AMCAS?

Thanks Pendulum for your offer to celebrate with me if my application is ever processed.
When you have slightly lower stats than the normal, traditional student, every minute counts in getting your application in to the schools. Being an older, nontraditional, lower stats than people on this list, mother with two kids, I need to get this process going.

7 weeks today since I applied. I have had no progress on my app. No button change ever. I do still have my MCAT scores listed on the appl. I did send all my applications to the schools I am applying to, but some schools aren't looking at them unless AMCAS sent them.

Plus the good news is I got a secondary from one of the schools I sent my application to, so there is a bright cloud amongst these dark clouds.

Well, good for you for having the application process almost completed. I'm glad for you.

Amy Beth, I called AMCAS today and the lady said that the reason why my app hasn't been processed is cuz I went in a few weeks ago and added three schools so I owed them 90 bucks and when I put in my CC info the payment didn't go thru so my app was put on hold. Did you check to see that you don't owe any money to these guys because they won't process until you pay them.

Olsen: the phone number is (202)828-0600. I find it a litte scary that I know that number by heart. :)

When I called AMCAS yesterday they said that when I added a school the credit card information was "sticking" -- I am not sure what the guy meant by that, but it seems like the info didn't go through, so he asked me to write AMCAS a letter with my credit card info and how much I want to charge... I am going to call again today because the person I talked to seemed kind of confused, but this might be something other people are having a problem with too since moo posted the same sort of problem.

Argh! I called just now, and was told that my initial payment was never received, just my payment for adding one additional school.
So I am beginning to think that credit card problems might be causing the lack of processing for a lot of people, since no one there even knows what has been charged or not...

elle, I think you're right. Stupid AMCAS is really pissing me off now. For some reason there is a bug in their software that will not allow you to make payment twice. For instance, when I added those three schools, I made payment with the original CC info that was still stored in my file. However, it supposedly didn't go through. That "specialist" told me to call my CC company but it really has nothing to do with them. It's all AMCAS's fault that the stupid payment doesn't go through. How the hell is this our fault????

Elle's initial payment didn't go through, but the second one did -- so the bug isn't not allowing you to make payment twice, but just not allowing payment in some cases. I definitely think this may be the reason some people are waiting so long for processing. I'm going to check & see that my payment went through right now!

someone from the accounting department just called me back, and they said my application has been on hold for over six weeks, because the credit card information was never processed correctly -- they are not sure if they actually have the money or not. But, I had called several times before and been told that my credit card was charged and that everything was fine financially.

So if your application has not been processed and it has been a while, this could be the reason. :( Even if your credit card was charged and AMCAS told you things were fine before, it might be worth investigating.

elle, what is the number for the AMCAS accounting lady? I don't wanna go thru that crap with their "specialists" again. They don't know a thing and each phone call costs at least 5 bucks for me, being on hold for so long.

The guy I talked to in accounting was Mike Newman at 202-862-6076. I've spoken with different people there though (I think a woman named Cheryl, but I could be wrong) so I don't know if he's the only person to handle credit card issues. He said to call after 11 am tomorrow, when they're having a meeting to resolve this.

I hope you got this in time to save money on your phone bill!

I discovered yesterday that the AMCAS charge wasn't on my credit card statement for the day I submitted (or for the following 10 days which was the end of my billing cycle). So I called the accounting lady, who picked up after the first ring (!) and very politely and competently checked her records. Turns out they'd been "having some problems about that time with sending the billings on" but that it had been resolved, and my card was charged on Aug. 8. She assured me that it had not affected my application status.

My grades have just been verified!!! I haven't received any word from AMCAS, but I have those kooky marks by my grades. Progress?

When did you submit?

I submitted on 6/23. My transcripts weren't there for a few weeks after (they lost them twice). I got the change notification button about 2 weeks ago. All of my schools (except Wake Forest) have my 1 page summary and some have my full app. I have transmittal dates for 7 of 10 schools on my AMCAS print-out. Odd, I applied to 3 chicago schools (loyola, pritzker, finch), and those are the only 3 that don't have transmittal dates. Anyone else?

i submitted 7/2/01. all my stuff has been there well before then. good luck all.
