I was looking up Post-Bac programs, and many of them need you to pay out of pocket, or take private loans. I cannot do either. What programs, that you know of, are fully covered by Federal Financial aid?
Thanx

If you apply to graduate post-bacc programs, you will receive a substantial amount of federal loans that can help offset costs for the program. Especially if this particular program is in your hometown.( i.e. no need to pay for housing or etc).

Thanx for replying. What is the graduate Post-Bacc? Where can I find a list of such programs?

What do you need from a postbac? Do you need the prereqs for med school? Do you need GPA improvement?

Grad work is only interesting if you're already done with the prereqs.

Hey DrMidLife. I'm a huge fan. Really.
I need to improve my GPA. I think it's sub 2.5 right now (will apply next cycle june 2013). But I cannot pay out of pocket, so, I was asking about affordable Post-Bacc's.

If you've got a sub 2.5 gpa your most likely going to need more than a year to bring it up, at least to apply to MD schools. DO schools have a little lower average gpa but even those might be a stretch. If you got all As for 2 years/60 credits with a 2.5 gpa that would bring it up to a 3.00 even. If yours is lower than 2.5 after graduating your better off spending two years at least getting your grades up and possibly adding stellar ECs.

Thanx giants25. I am considering that too.

So have you taken most of the science pre-reqs already?

You need to define what affordable means to you. Most formal post-baccs are quite expensive and SMP are also.

There's a lot of information on the sticky about SMP's. There's more aid available for SMP, but for post-bacc depending on the program, you will mostly be confided to private loans.
