Financial Aid Question

The FAFSA is the first step. It comes out Jan 1. However, if you work, you'll want your tax info from this year, which might mean waiting til a few weeks later, when you get your W-2's.
My goal is to get through med school and not have loans at the end of it.
Step 1: Borrow thousands of dollars from the bank
Step 2: Invest in loterry tickets.

As far as scholarships outside the university where is everyone looking? I check fast web but they rarely show me scholarships I can use or that have anything to do with medical school.
They don't have to be medical school related. What kinds of ones are you talking about? Do they just not qualify for grad school tuition?

So I am applying to DO schools for the first time. I am curious, when should I apply for financial aid, should I fill out a FAFSA now or wait until I get accepted. Also what other ways are there to pay for medical school?
The key is knowing that you're going into the military. Though I have not taken the military scholarship (I plan to), from what I have read, a lot of people going in had no first-hand experience of the military and were expecting way too much. Some of the complaints I read made me laugh--so hard--because when my husband was in the infantry I would have loved it if their problems were our problems--we saw some of the worst parts of military life because of the god-awful unit he was in. A lot of going into the military is perspective. If you don't have realistic expectations, it will be hell. If you go in expecting hell and get anything above your expectations, it will be fantastic. I'm comfortable in that knowledge going in. I'm not expecting it to be fun, but there are a lot of reasons that I feel it would be worth it in my situation.
(edit) Oh, and if you do research, do research on your own. Recruiters are paid liars. Take nothing that they say as "fact," and read all the paperwork. Oh, experience.

If you're applying now (09-10 cycle) you will need to wait for the 2010 FAFSA. Try to get you taxes done early since the FAFSA needs tax information.
Not much really. There are loans, Scholarship programs through the military and the NHSC, school scholarships/grants. Aside from those things there's pretty much just having extensive personal finances, or rich parents/relatives.
