How can a financial difficulties be part of your strength..? Elaborate please.

Overcoming adversity of any kind can be seen as a strength, assuming you frame it as such.
During my first interview I was talking about overcoming financial difficulties and they said, then how do you expect to pay for dental school? After that, I did not bring it up in any of my next interviews and I don't think that anyone should after that response because dental school is so expensive and they don't want to think that you won't be able to pay for the deposit, etc. up front.
this is what im talking about....should i expect this kind of response in my interviews...? wow...
Just answer the question directly.. How would you pay for dental school? It's a legitimate question, you know. If you know your sources, inside out and upside down, if anything I'll bet that they'll be impressed at your resourcefulness. Do your research, and prove to them that finances aren't going to get in the way of your dental education.
Man I wish they asked me that question, seriously...
You could try the HPSP scholarship route - always a good choice. 4 more years isn't that much in the grand scheme of things, get some great experience as well.
They want to make sure that you have thought about it and have a solid plan, especially if you are from a disadvantaged background.
Luckily, I am a member of a Native American tribe so I can do a service commitment with the IHS for each year that they pay for my school, kind of like the military, but working for a tribe instead. That's what I told them about and they seemed to accept my answer.
