Has anyone received a Finch interview - when?

When do they start interviewing heavily??

i still haven't heard anything from them either. my app was complete there in sept but i haven't heard still...i called and they said that they are still reviewing...at least that is what they told me.

I called up Finch yesterday to do a status check. They told me that they started interviewing this month with the first half of applications. And since I completed my application in september, they'll be reviewing it in January and making a decision then. They also relayed to me they expect the same number of completed applications as last year (around 6000, an estimate). Hope that helps!😎

There are no essays, they only ask for your name and basic stuff like that.

welp since my app was complete around october, i guess i shouldn't expect to hear anything from them for a while. oh well, finch is on the bottom of my list anyway

Just wanted to add how late Finch could interview, I had an interview there last year on May 30, 3 weeks before they started their orientation. A big part of it may have been due to the AMCAS debacle last year, but the class was filled and a solid waitlist had been developed by the time I was there. What a waste it was to go, and the school is quite a depressing place to go to.

so does this mean if my application was complete around mid to late october (because i'm an august mcater), they probably won't even get to interview me???

Hi Jolu and others,

Last year, my application to Finch was completed (secondary & references) in late November or early December and I received an interview for the end of March. So, don't worry! Finch does interview quite late into the year (May or June) so it might be some time until you hear back from them.

I interviewed at Finch on October 30. I got my interview about 2 weeks before that. They interview every week Tuesday-Thursday. Oh yeah, and if you have done some research, be sure that you are ready to be asked about it. Good luck!

We started at the end of July with a week of orientation...not June. As far as the depressing comment above...yeah the school's in the middle of no where, but that allows you to concentrate on the busy schedule you'll have. I've got a little theory on this...it's not where you are that makes a place depressing, but the people you're around. I'm having the time of my life at Finch. I attribute that to the people I've met and not the school itself.

I just received an interview invite from Finch. In addition, they have offered me a renewable $20,000 merit-based scholarship. The letter said I can schedule the interview in January.

Are you going for MD or MD/Phd program?

How is Finch rated?

I'm applying for MD only. I don't know how Finch is rated. They don't respond to U.S. News and World Report Rankings. Does anybody know the strengths of the school and how its residency placement is?

Thank you! They did write that I was selected for a possible $20K scholarship. I have no idea if that is normal or not. I can tell you very honestly that I am not extraordinary. My stats are above their averages but they aren't anything spectacular. Basically, I have NO idea what is going on but I am going to the interview and hoping for the best!!🙂 I wish you the best of luck!

I just got the same letter with the notice about a 20k scholarship -- I think that's just a ploy. I'll bet it's one scholarship, and everyone gets into that "small pool of applicants." I finished my app at the beginning of November, and my interview is in January too.
