Hi Everyone!

So I've completed my Masters in Clinical Psychology, Marriage and Family Therapy emphasis.
I've moved to New York City and have been networking and job hunting aggressively. Besides applying at agency settings, can you guys give me other ideas of where I can apply for a job?

I'm very open at this point to work with different population groups!

I know I can't work at a hospital with a masters in psych, but any other ideas?

Thanks everyone!

Move out of the flooded market.

okay thanks .. but that's not an option for me. So I'd appreciate some ideas on other job opportunities?

Thank you

The reality is that there aren't options for a MA in psych. It prepares you to work in an agency; that's just about it.

Sorry.

In addition, getting licensed is probably an issue. If I remember correctly, New York does not license master's level psychologists. The best you can do obtain licensure as a professional counselor, but it will depend if your educational background matches the state requirements.

Sadly, this is the sacrifice you make when moving from one state to another, especially after you have graduated from a program. I received my education from another state and although I have a few years in the field, I had to take a position that is mostly reserved for bachelor level folks. It sucks, but in my case personal circumstances outweigh the licensing issue. You simply have to decide what is best for your professional career and personal life and live with the challenges.
