Finding a MD to shadow on LI/NYC?

Hi - I've been trying to find a doctor to shadow in my area (Long Island/NYC), but haven't had any luck so far. I've called several hospitals and have emailed maybe 50 doctors (DOs mainly, through their mentoring program). I'm interested in shadowing either MDs or DOs. My situation is that I'd be a post-bacc (a post-Ph.D., actually), and I really want to get as much experience shadowing as possible before I begin the necessary coursework (chem and bio) - I'm in an OK career now, but it's not rewarding at all, and not very challenging, which is why I want to go into medicine. I'd really like to shadow as I want to be as sure as possible about going into medicine before I put in a ton of time and money (i.e., I can't afford a repeat of grad school). Any help appreciated.

Just register as a pre-med and then you'll have lists of docs who are willing to let you shadow them in your area.
