I recently graduated and I plan to take the MCAT in September. I plan on taking two years off and in that time I plan to have a job as a research tech. I have extensive experience from the past two years at an internship and as an undergrad in a lab on campus.

Are there a lot of positions in the fall? Originally I was going to look for one as school ended but feel that it would be hard to study after a long day in the lab.

Thanks

My school posts lots of jobs (often research) specifically for gap-year premed students and about half seem to start in the fall.

There are definitely research positions starting in the Fall but don't be surprised if you have a hard time finding one that quickly. I have many friends who started searching last spring and are only now finding employment. Depending on the skills you are coming in with and the amount of opportunity you would like to do real science you may have a hard time getting a position. Your best bet is to network away and ask around if anyone has heard of any open positions. Many interviews for tech positions are granted based on who known who, not because you find an ad online.
