Anyone have any recommendations on where to begin. Have been looking for advertised jobs but not much out there. I’m in the northeast, major city. Thinking of starting to cold call places. Anyone have any recommendations, or just call the offices and see what happens. Email instead?

Any specific places you would like to practice?

There’s a few a would really like to work at, but I don’t think they have openings in the pain clinic. Do people recommend taking a GA job at a system you’d like to work at anticipating a pain opening?

Use your SCS reps to get in touch with reps in the area you are interested in. The local reps know the good/bad/ugly of each practice. They will know who is hiring. I got a hospital-based job offer through my SCS rep from fellowship- granted my fellowship was in same location as my intended practice area.

You looking at hospital gigs?

Yes, very few private practice pain centers in my area, it’s mostly hospitals. I’m slowly starting to think I might need to just take a GA gig.

Where in the northeast are you?

Can’t speak for other parts of the country, but pain seems DEAD in the northeast and GA pays like $150k more here

The E and M codes are goin got be reimbursed higher this year, seems like a trend, perhaps if anesthesia reimbursement continues to go down than pain will be more a lucrative field.
