How are jobs pbtained in medicine after your residency? Are you sought out by others or is it a normal application just like any other job?

some options include:

1. checking out the classified ad's in medical journals

2. attending cme 1 meetings, where you'll find huge bulletin boards, often divided up into geographic areas of the country, loaded with posters about opportunities

3. signing up with various "locum tenens" agencies that are dedicated to helping hospitals and/or medical practices find temporary help while a physician in the group is away on vacation, etc. this option is is sometimes used by those who wish to explore what their interests are prior to committing to a specific practice location, or by those md's willing to work as temporary's until they locate a practice opportunity. these agencies often locate permanent positions, as well, but the fees are usually high.
