Ok I have a question, this might be dumb but does any one in dental school have problems with having big hands? Also is there any way to improve your fine motor skills? Do all of you have incredible dexterity? I guess I only get nervous about this aspect of dentistry I am probably over reacting. Thanks for your time

I had a 6'9 classmate who could barely fit his damn hands in his patients' mouths. He hated Pedo. I doubt it's that big of a deal though, because your hands aren't in the mouth as much as your instruments.

Manual dexterity is the reason we lost about 5% of my class the first year. My school started those labs early, I guess so they could weed out those with 2 left hands.

To improve your manual dexterity try one or more of the following:
1) Musical Instruments: play the piano, guitar, etc.
2) Art: Painting, sculpting, drawing, etc.
3) Video games: Play Halo 2, Madden 2005, etc

🙂
