I did what you're supposed to do when you have a 3.6/31. I applied early, broadly, and strategically. I had volunteering, research, clinical experience. But I haven't received a single MD ii yet. Where do I go from here? Do I need to retake my MCAT? Take more classes? I'm pretty lost on what to do to get an MD ii. Help please?

With a 31 I dont feel like you should retake. It is likely not your stats that are holding you back (although maybe from top tiers). What state are you from? How many schools did you apply to? If I had to guess there is something missing in your application or you are just unlucky. Possibilities (not saying any of these are true) are poor letters of rec, simply cookie cutter EC's. or maybe your writing wasn't great (personal statement, secondaries, etc.).

Be patient.

Yep. You've got average stats.

In your case the interviews probably won't start going out till Nov/Dec.

Most schools interview all the high stats applicants (3.8+/33+) first during Sept/Oct.

I'm in a similar boat, I have 3 rejections, one "hold" ( MCW small pool) and silence from the other 21 schools. LizzyM of ~72, high mcat, lower end undergrad GPA but better grad GPA. I have lots of research and pubs, ECs with leadership, volunteering and shadowing. I'm feeling really anxious and every week that goes by without and II is worse...
but still hopeful I'll get a bite from an ad com. I feel your pain, good luck!

Did you call any schools to check on whether you're "Complete" and that all elements of your application have been received by them, if you didn't get an on-line acknowledgement as to similar information?

Yes, I've checked with schools and I have gotten the reply "Yes, your application is complete and under review." I just don't understand because I've been complete for about 2 months with no replies. And I applied to ~25 schools, with Wake Forest being the "highest ranked/tier" school on my list.

I mean, do late interviews go out for people that applied early?

Edit: I'm on hold at a few schools

I don't buy the "early interview invitees have high stats" mantra. I have a 3.83/32 and I already have a healthy number of interviews. Fit is everything.

3.83/32 is above average IMO. I think you could actually be a strong candidate with those stats and decent ECs. IMO your IIs don't mean much to OP since you're a very different applicant. I think "fit" is over-rated, unless you're talking about schools that steeply favor URMs (Morehouse, Howard, etc).

To OP: I can't say what's happening to your application, but I think Goro's advice is the best at this point. Maybe avoid feeling anxious about your lack of interviews until late December. Then maybe you can start thinking of a back up plan in case you don't receive any interviews. Otherwise, you've still got plenty of time. The cycle is young. My best friend, also an average applicant last cycle, didn't receive IIs until late December (she ended up with 3), and she is now very happily an M1 at a great medical school. It's not time to panic yet.

Just my two cents: Don't give up hope quite yet... I think they may be slightly overwhelmed this year with applicants and maybe aren't rolling out interviews quite as fast? I haven't received any either, and I have pretty good stats/ECs. I know it's hard to be patient...But I agree about waiting until December to get too anxious. That's what I keep trying to convince myself of at least...I know that's much easier said than done though.

That makes two of us. :highfive:. Idk how much more waiting I could do especially when I read people are receiving IIs when they were complete after me. wth?!
