We will likely be doing it one of our apartments which has a fireplace. Not sure if it'll be visible but I'll see what we can do...

Hey everyone! We have finally set a date for this. We decided to use a Google+ Hangout for two reasons: first, it can export the video directly to YouTube, and second (and perhaps more importantly), we can actually stream the video live for those who want to watch it live. Cool, huh?

So, assuming everything works, the stream will begin Thursday at 7pm CST and will probably last an hour or hour and a half. I will also upload the video to YouTube if you don't want to or can't watch it live and should have the link for that later that evening. Shortly before 7pm, I'll post what I presume will be a link to the stream for those of you interested in watching it live.

As far as the questions, we will do our best to answer them all but may not be able to depending upon how quickly we move through them. I, your lovely mod mmmc, and three of my good friends and classmates will be partaking. Hopefully we're able to get you a relatively broad perspective on your questions.

I'll post any updates/changes here if they occur; otherwise, check back Thursday evening (or afternoon for you west coast people) for the link to the stream and, later, the YouTube video.

Hey guys,

The last link that I posted unfortunately won't work - there was an error that caused that link to die. I fixed it in my old post, but obviously the quotes won't change, so you can either click on the link from the post itself or use this one: http://youtu.be/NQ9F10djlZA.

The announcement in the forum banner may not be correct - the site admin will need to change the link manually, and I'm not sure if that'll happen before we get started.

Sorry for all of the issues. Damn you Google!
 
In case we have another issue, I will also stream the video on my personal website at http://www.medicalschoolisseriousbusiness.com/hangout. This is the easiest way that I can ensure that the correct link is used (and streamed), though I don't expect there to be any other issues. Unfortunately Google doesn't make this process particularly easy to do...

Will this be recorded and left online for a while? I'm at work and youtube is blocked 🙁
 
Pass this on to the entire Pre-Health Club at my school via facebook. There are 150 members, but only 12 have seen the message so far. So at least a few more people will see the live chat, but many more will get to see the recorded video.

Rofl I would be highly impressed if it got that many views. I'm thinking a ceiling of a couple thousand at most.

Edit: after we get started, would someone mind posting here to let me know how the quality is? It obviously isn't going to be HD or anything like that, but if it's unintelligible then we'd like to know so we don't record a ton of stuff that can't be heard.

Is there? I don't know how this works. I'm pretty sure your standard YouTube comments will be available (if you watch it on YouTube), but I'm not sure if there will be a formal chat room-type component.

If you used livestream.com you probably could have done this.
