Haha, small world! I am glad to see someone from my alma mater doing so well! Keep it up at Pritzker.

Also, random thought. You should wear a sweater vest in your fireside chat. 😎
Can this please really be filmed by a fire place? In really comfy chairs?![]()

I have a feeling this is going to be the most people to ever use Google+ Hangout. I hope Google's servers are up to the challenge![]()
Hey everyone!
The mods have been generous enough to post a link to the chat shortly at the top of the forums page, but you will be able to watch the live stream here: (one sec). In case you forgot, we'll be starting at 5:15pm CST (6:15 EST/3:15 PST) and it should go for an hour or hour and a half. Once the chat is over, I'll post a link to the recorded YouTube video here. The link above is temporary and will be removed after the stream is done.
We look forward to chatting!
hey guys!
Here's a link to the live stream: http://youtu.be/sdpyes_ghyc
just a reminder that we'll start at 5:15 cst (6:15 est, 3:15 pst). I'm guessing that this link will also function as a link to the recorded video once the stream is over, but i'll verify that once we're finished.
Look forward to answering your questions!
so pumped!!!!
Do you mind if I share this link outside of SDN on FB?
Please feel free to share with whoever!

1) What's an average day like (weekdays and weekends)?
2) What kinds of challenges outside of academics have you faced? (((Including relocation)))
3) What specialties are you interested in? What have you done to get there?
4) Advice for incoming students. What about those with children/SOs?
5) How much time do you have for yourself? Time outside of studying? Do you have time to do fun stuff on the weekend?
6) Is it possible to do significant research during school? How do you balance study time vs. other commitments?
7) How is life different between undergrad and med school?
8) What is studying in med school like? How do you approach it?
9) What are your tips for surviving/adjusting in the first couple of months?
10) Looking back now, what would you have done differently to maximize success with Anatomy?
11) What are the characteristics of the most successful students in your class? How, if at all, do those characteristics differ from those of the most successful undergraduate students?
12) How do stress levels compare in the first 2 years to: a) average undergrad, b) MCAT prep, c) application season?
13) How often do you drink/go out and have shameless fun (serious question)
14) I've once heard a med school dean say, "UGs are shocked when they get to med school, and realize they can't slack off and catch up on weekends". Idk why they were surprised, but have you ever seen anyone struck by an emergency, and how did they recover?
15) Did you have clinical exposure during M1? Was it helpful?
16) How do regular MD students match up with MD/PhDs when applying for residency? For really competitive academic programs, will the MD be at a significant disadvantage or can they make it up by taking a year off for research or something?
17) Can you think of any more of a worthwhile profession in terms of level of nobleness than medicine/medical research?
18) If you're not sure of what specialty you want to go to (or have some inklings but realize that many people change their minds) how should an accepted student differentiate which medical school will have the most paths to an open future?
19) Which undergraduate courses were the most helpful in preparing you for med school? Are there any courses that were similar to what you learn in med school?
can't wait for thisHey guys!

Will this be recorded and left online for a while? I'm at work and youtube is blocked 🙁
Yup - I won't delete the video ever.
Two likes so far! We need to get over 1M+ views for this.
Rofl I would be highly impressed if it got that many views. I'm thinking a ceiling of a couple thousand at most.
mmmc and I are ready to go - just waiting for my classmates and then we'll be getting started shortly.
Edit: after we get started, would someone mind posting here to let me know how the quality is? It obviously isn't going to be HD or anything like that, but if it's unintelligible then we'd like to know so we don't record a ton of stuff that can't be heard.
Hm. I'm sure there will be a live chat on the video? I think there usually is for events like these......
Is there? I don't know how this works. I'm pretty sure your standard YouTube comments will be available (if you watch it on YouTube), but I'm not sure if there will be a formal chat room-type component.
All I'm missing now is a case of beer.
