i did it !! I finally did it !! Got into NYU GOT THE LETTER TODAY !~!!😍 <-- I LITERALLY NEVER THOUGHT I WOULD BE DOING THIS EVER !! I did it !!

It looks like I'm going to be a second-time applicant too. Do you mind sharing any tips on what you used to study for the DAT?

I heard that at NYU, after two years they "weed out" students. that's why NYU is relatively easier to get into. So I've been told.

1) From whom did you hear this? Is your source at all reputable or are those just rumors you're spreading? 2) What's the point of posting this here? Why are you trying to make the OP feel bad when he has just received his first acceptance?

OP, I have a close friend who graduated from NYU and she said there's no weeding out. Work hard, dental school ain't gonna be easy (but we all know that), and you will be just fine.

And congrats on your acceptance! :clap::clap::clap:

You should rephrase this.. It's not the easier to get in, but the one that you have higher % to get in due to more seats available 240 +150 !! I was told once too,,That NYU was the easiest to get in and guess what? I will be re applying for third time and NEVER got interview there so how easy can it be? I honestly wish i was in the OP shoes right now..Congrats again

Even though they have more seats, that fact is offset by the number of applicants You do have a slightly higher chance of getting in(4.9% compared to the national average of 4.7%), but only marginal. Generally, NYU acceptance has a lower GPA and DAT score(I say this because state schools are generally a person's #1 choice, and NYU is generally a backup), with the exception of internationals(from what I've seen, which really inflates their stats- I generally believe Canadians and Internationals need ever higher scores to get into a US school).

And what is 240 + 150? Are there 390 seats now? If so that does increase your chances.

There is no weeding out process in dental school. There is a 98+ percentage of graduation overall. About 1% fail academically and the other percentage leaves due to personal reasons.

390 about an estimate for next cycle since there will be no internationals starting on second year but on the first year as everyone else, I am not sure if they will still accept 150 international or they will be counted as a regular non-licensed pre-dent applicants but chances might be better next year!! BTW NYU is # 1 for some people living in NYC you know?

There absolutely no logical reason why any ds anywhere in the world would want to "weed out" students half way through their education.
