Misc Info/Things not stated elsewhere/Red Flags:
My Application is heavily focused on serving underserved communities (I haven't listed all the details of community volunteer services but hours are shown). My essay and activity descriptions tie in very well with everything. I liked the way my app turned out.
Scared that I might not have a chance at getting in due to my gpa but I really want to do my best to get in anywhere I have a chance. This DAT is my last shot at really boosting my app and covering up for such a low gpa.
- Will I have to do a Masters because of this GPA? And is that the only way I can improve my app?
School list:
(I have listed all the schools I've already applied to above, however I haven't submitted these remaining schools below. Please let me know if there's any schools I should definitely remove from my list based off my stats, or if there's any schools that I should include that will most likely look at my app and consider me as a good candidate for their dental school.
-BU GSDM DMD
-California Northstate University
-Herman Ostrow School (ik this school is a reach, but it's my dream school and I wanted to take my chances anyway, but if this definitely not a school that would except me then I will remove it)
-Lincoln Memorial
-Midwestern Illinois
-Midwestern Arizona
-NYU
-Detroit Mercy
-New England
-Pacific Arthur A. Dug.
Where did you do your postbac courses?
I would hope you find success in Texas... if you don't blow that DAT.

you pretty much have only 2 choicesView attachment 391298
Thought my scores were going to be better. I don’t know what to do anymore. I was really hoping to get in this year. Regardless of what school I get into.
you pretty much have only 2 choices
a retake means you have to wait 60 days, and that would put you really late in the cycle
plus you need to significantly increase your scores, which is not an easy task
you could apply to as many privates as you can afford, including the new schools (skipping UOP and the ivies), right now and take your chances
the other choice is to just see how this cycle goes without adding, retake next year and apply at the beginning of next cycle
At this point, the schools will likely review your application with your scores in hand. The Texas timeline is a little faster than the AADSAS timeline given the smaller number of schools and the matching process. You should run with what you have and trust the process. An interview invitation for December offers should occur before November 1 (for an interview occurring before Thanksgiving), and most people on the forums will say there are no pre-December interviews once you hit September-October (they are filling spring or waitlisting in case anyone drops before December... which seldom happens). If I retake my DAT would they not look at my current application?
I’m just confused on how this works. I was thinking about going through with the exam in 60 days, but not stating that I’m going retake it on my application so they don’t put my application on hold.
I wanted to take it soon since the material is fresh in my memory.
if you do not tell them you are retaking, they will look at your application once they receive your DAT scoresIf I retake my DAT would they not look at my current application?
