Hello guys,
Did anybody notice any major changes or additions between First aid 2010 and the previous two editions.. 2009 or 2008!!
I have a limited time  and can't go through a new First Aid, I'm using 2009!

Can anybody list some new additions from FA 2010!! We would really appreciate it .

From what Ive seen, theyve just organized the date they previously had, ofcourse adding new pictures etc. And I saw few tables (similar to what they have in the kaplan books) and some info from UW in there. I guess if u do UW, ulll pretty much cover everything that the new FA has.

Thank you k87..
Yea, seems UW will always be the king !!! I'll do it :) thank you..

But there are many kaplan tables!!! which subject do you mean??
Thanks again

Just go to barnes and nobles, borders, or ur med school library and check out that book and see for urself and decide weather its worth getting or not.

Thanks again k87
Unfortunately IMGs do not have barnes and nobles or borders.. you are lucky guys to have these bookshops :)
Even the med school library will only have it by the end of this month.. which is too late!!

Thanks anyways... you already helped a lot and we appreciate it a lot :)

yea well we pay out the ass for all of it, inlcuding insane loans and tuition so dont go feeling too bad for yourself

Thank you go lakers, we appreciate you comments :):)

According to a friend of mine, the herbal agents section has been completely excised from the general principles of pharmacology section of the book.

a friend of mine was showin me his 2010 FA pdf file. Comparing it my 2009 FA, (endocrine and GI section only) i saw a new entry on insulin and prolactin. Also saw a new african burkitts lymphoma high yield image in the "high-yield" section. Im sure there is more.

Ok, just saw the DIT website post, there is definitely alot more! :)

Might as well add a sort of correction - in "Key Associations" they list medulloblastoma as the most common brain TUMOR in kids, it's not. It's the most common primary brain malignancy, but astrocytomas are more common (usually pilocytic astrocytomas I believe).

Actually, they don't even say "primary", so mets might be up there as well (not sure how frequent they are in kids vs. primary, for adults mets are definitely the most common benign or malignant brain tumor).

EDIT: They do it again... Neoplasm (kids): 1. ALL 2. Medulloblastoma. They really need to put the word "malignant" in there somewhere.

In the psychiatry chapter, numerous topics/subtopics that were bolded in FA 2009 are no longer bolder in FA 2010. I wonder if that was a mistake on their part or if those topics are less HY than they used to be...

DOes anybody know why the took out the HIGH YIELD VIGNETTES intro part of each section from the 2008 FA, so now the 09 and 2010 ones dont have?

does anybody find these useful? useless? worth printing?

anybody have answer to post below about unbolding of psych section?

First Aid 2008 - "High-Yield Clinical Vignettes" intro at the beginning of each chapter.

First Aid 2009/2010 - "Classic Presentations" in the Rapid Review portion of the book.

I think they just reorganized the 2008 vignettes and put it in the rapid review section of 2009/2010.. the format is a little bit different but it is essentially the same. Probably makes it easier to "rapidly review" when it's all in one place.
