Mine is also PCOM. It is awesome there. 😀

although i live in ny,pcom is my no.1 choice. All my cousins who are mostly MD have encouraged me to choose PCOM over other schools. SO i guess, it's a popular pick among lot of students as well.

Bump.

1. PCOM: Location, reputation, facilities
2. DMU
3. CCOM
4. WVSOM
5. LECOM

OUCOM. State school. Small class. Research. Perks of mid-size university. High 1st time COMLEX pass rate (97%) . . assuming decent USMLE scores. Opportunity to rotate through some great hospitals in Ohio. Alumni stay involved.

Of the three DO schools Ive interviewed with, OU was the best fit. My CCOM interview was nothing more than a cattle call (10-15 min interview) and I was not very excited upon leaving the school or getting my acceptance phone call. KCUMB was impressive, but I couldn't see myself moving out to KC or scheduling my own rotations. Ill open up those spots for someone else later today.

Touro-MI
After interviewing at PCOM, NSU and TUCOM-MI, I think the students seemed to be the most dynamic and lots of cool life experiences. All three schools were great, but the deciding factor for me was the students and profs, and location, but all three schools have good locations.

UNECOM because it's two towns away from me, and they're in cahoots withs the school I'm going to do pre-med. If I maintain certain credentials I'll automatically get accepted.

Mine is NSU-COM. I was really impressed during the interview and it is close to home.

AZCOM for sure! 👍 I got my undergrad at Midwestern University, so I know the school and faculty! I absolutely love it there!

ccom for its reputation and affiliation with hospitals.

nycom. LOCATION LOCATION LOCATION! 😉 i live in nj, and would like to practice in the tri-state area.

Lots of DOs up there. NYCOMers are all over NYC. Good luck!

Tie between MSUCOM and CCOM

PCOM fo sho..its a great school🙂

actually a week ago i had NSU and KCUMB at the top with CCOM below because NOVA and KCUMB have such beautiful new facilities. However in the past week I have completely changed my mind on whats important to me and decided that CCOM would be a much better fit for me. The location of the rotations allow you to stay in one place all 4 years and learn in a location where you will see some of absolutely everything. CCOM also did have pretty nice facilities, just not the best. Plus I absolutely love chicago - And my cubbies decided to pay 6 quadrillion dollars for players so maybe ill have a great team to root for, and go BEARS!

Final Choice - CCOM!

thought i'd start a thread where people can list their first choice of DO schools.

mine is PCOM.

You mean there are other D.O. schools out there.....hmmm...interesting:laugh:

Mine is definitely DMU.

You've been admitted at WVSOM and it doesn't make your top 3???
I hope the AdCom at WVSOM isn't reading this thread.

I didn't apply to any schools that I wouldnt' be thrilled to attend. That said, WVSOM is 47k per year just for tuition. How can the adcom at WVSOM expect it to be my first choice when it's going to be upwards of 74k per year to attend. That would be foolish.

That said, WVSOM has an excellent staff and great facilities. I would definitely be happy there. And I'm not obligated to say that at this point, either.

Pre-interview: My top three were DCOM, PCSOM, and UNECOM. I got accepted to both DCOM and PCSOM, but I can't even fill out my supplemental at UNECOM until after they get my orgo 1 grade in a few weeks.
Post-interview: DCOM!!!! I wasn't that impressed with PCSOM and I doubt UNECOM will ever happen at this point.
(I know you all probably think I am crazy for this list.😉 )

ah, the competition... a fellow PSUer.

What are your stats like?

28Q MCAT (10V, 9BS, 9PS); 3.56 Overall GPA, 3.6 Science GPA.

Good luck! Let's hope we both hear something soon.

Impressive stats! You shouldn't have any problem getting into your school of choice. Those are good, balanced stats.

You currently taking bmb 401, biol 460, micro 201, or med ethics by any chance?

Well, my school of choice is PCOM so I hope it's good enough for them. From the stats I've seen posted of people who were accepted, it seems like it should be ok. But, I took the MCAT in August and didn't get my secondary back to them as quickly as I should have. Stupid ****=Me. But I'm still hopeful. And, not taking any of those classes.

I'm taking BMB 401 now and having a tough time studying for the exam on Thursday. Senioritis sucks.

TCOM - the old rule that the first choice is the one that takes you.

MSU

solid rotations, affiliation with large university, public school, great value for MI residents, reputation

MSU for the same reasons. My desire to get out of Michigan for awhile is not enough to make me ignore these factors. Sorry CCOM.

Same story for me pretty much

Prolly a tie between NSU and OUCOM (except Ohio is really really cold)...

Nova because it is in Florida...so I'm instate and it has a good reputation and etc...

Ohio....cuz the school has an excellent curriculum, the nicest, friendliest, and most helpful staff....but it is cold up there...and so far from Florida...

Does anyone get the impression that location is a key criteria for a large majority of the applicants? Scroll up and look at the comments why people picked a particular place.

that is true...and that's bc they're all great schools. it's just a matter of picking according to personal preference after that.
