so i just had my diagnostic test in my first day of the kaplan mcat class and ive just realized that i know absolutely nothing  I AM GOING TO DRINK HEAVY TONIGHT

Kaplan's diagnostic is intended to be unreasonably hard. How else do they convince you that you need to drop a few grand on their class?

Also, that makes it easier for them to give you the 10-pt guarantee, or whatever it is they call it.

lol i suppose...hopefully ill get something out of it, my instructor claims he was in the same situation as i was in, then took the class...and scored like a 40 or something

less due to the class, more due to the diagnostic being rediculous

Slightly off topic but I took the amcas MCAT practice test #3 on their site and I didn't find it that bad; however does anyone know how that test compares to the other 4-10 that they have up for sale in terms of difficulty?

it's supposed to be one of the easier ones, but it's hard to tell. I did fine on it, but consistently improved with each test I took...but I was taking the kaplan class, so how much of it was the easiness of the tests, and how much was me learning how to take them, you know?

also, yeah, kaplan diagnostic blows and makes you want to cry, but i scored ten points higher on the real deal after going through their class (and five points higher than when I took the mcat after studying solo), so i guess their claim is true!

:luck::luck::luck::luck: to everyone! you can do this!

#3 is one of the easier ones.

bah, no wonder they make the easier one a free practice to get people's hope up. Anyway then what # would be a fairly difficult one? Or should I practice with kaplan if I want only difficult ones?

I'd do all of the aamc practice tests, the later ones are a better reflection of current emphasis, but they're all good practice. This is pretty much the only prep I did for the mcat and I pulled a 39Q.

The Kaplan tests are great to get used to the format and such, and they're not terrible for actual practice, but they are not as accurate a reflection of the real test as I'd personally like.

I think there's some kind of season pass type option for the aamc tests that will get you all of them for less $ than buying them individually. I'd do 'em all.

Yah, I just got home from taking my Kaplan diag and boy was it painful. Oh well, time to eat.....I'm starting to think that the biggest difficulty with this things is the hunger from all that thinking.

Peace.

In reading through the forums there's at least half a dozen separate threads about the Kaplan diagnostic experiences. In each one I see things like "they're doing it to" followed by some version of "get you" "scare you" "get money from you" "protect themselves" etc

Let's pretent you were training for a marathon, had never run in your life, and I was your running coach. If I made you run a marathon on the first day you'd die, you wouldn't be able to finish. Now imagine I made you run a half marathon... you'd probably finish, but your time won't be something you'll be proud of.

If you don't get what I'm saying, try taking AAMC 10 the day after your Kaplan Diag and you'll see that there won't be much of a difference in score. I laugh anytime someone who aced the premeds is shocked at how low their score can be on the MCAT. There are way too many people out there that just don't understand what this test is all about!

Would anyone mind sharing Diagnostic scores? I ask because I did miserable on my Kaplan diagnostic and I pray to God I'm not the stupidest person alive.

I got a 28. V-11 PS- 8 BS- 9

Dude, you've got a thread of people complaining that they didn't do well on their diagnostic with one person asking for scores in hopes of comiserating and consoling each other and you post about your 28? Are you that hard up for a pat on the back? Or are you just completely socially inept?

#3 is one of the easier ones.
Eh, I dunno. I took 3 and got 10-10-9 PS. On the real thing a week later, I got 10-10-12 PS, so it was definitely harder than my real exam. I got 10-10-10 on #9, also a better score.
