With 5 weeks to go I have just taken AAMC 3 and did sooooo bad!!!! I am now seriously concerned. I got PS8 V6 BS8 =22😱 what was your 1st like and how quickly u recouped from this misery? I have about 1 week to finish review (optics, electrochem, and genetic/evolution) then strictly devoted o test taking and reviewing.
Any comments or suggestions greatly appreciated!

Aiming for 28, do I have a chance w/ 5 weeks left?

btw English IS my 2nd language...that might explain the really bad 6!

how are you prepping? I'm not sure if 1 week is enough for content. Even if you get 10 on the sciences though, verbal needs to go up. Yeah, I think a 28 is doable.

I have been using TPRH (old ed.) and EK 1001 for a few months now. Been reviewing and 1001 books only, but I see i need to feel the timed stress of the test to see if i know my stuff and apply it under pressure. The one week i was referring was to finish up the last material have haven't reviewd yet. I was trying to get all the material in my head 1st, then test it, since its been a while since I had seen most of this stuff. I figured I need to get 80% correct on all 3 sections to get 10 across. Tonight I'll be reviewing all the problems and see what I did wrong. How is everyone doing?

btw I'm scheduled for May7...is it doable?

I personally wouldn't because I wouldn't feel ready. How many practice tests can you cram into 5 weeks 5? 10? You're not done with content yet and didn't score well on the easiest aamc. I mean it's doable, but the chances are better if you prep better. Have you completed tprh verbal yet? Also do ek101. Makes sure you spend lots of time to review the tests and passages the day after you take them.

Going to see how it goes, i do wish I could get more practice tests in there...hopefully it gets better. I'be been doing the 101 verbal, haven't done any of the TPRH verbal. Do you think its better?

5 weeks is enough to push your sciences up to at least a 10 each which will give you any where from +4 to +5 but the VR hmm I don't know what to say about that it took me about 3-4 months just to improve 2 points on the Verbal but everyones different idk? I would say in 5 weeks you could definitely hit close to 28 but try to focus a lot more on the VR (you need at least an 8) because there's no point in getting a 28 if your score is slop sided. Good luck 👍

The TPR Verbal Workbook is supposed to be really good, but hard to find since it is restricted to those who take the course. It would be good to obtain it and to practise as much as you can. The TPR also has a Science Workbook that is helpful in identifying your weak areas so you don't have to burn through as many AAMC's.

You should definitely go over your past test and figure out your weak areas. Don't just say, "oh yeah, that was a stupid mistake," but figure out the exact line of reasoning that you had when you made the mistake, and try to adjust your thinking to be in line with the correct mode of reasoning. Also, go over the correct answers too, in order to make sure that you weed out the ones you got correct by sheer guessing, or sheer luck. Figure out if you had the right reasoning, and if not, go back and review the content in the areas where you had the incorrect reasoning. Adjust your reasoning to match the correct reasoning, then move on to the next. Rinse, repeat. Make sure you spend enough time doing this "troubleshooting", as spending too much time troubleshooting will probably hurt you less than spending too little time sifting out problem areas.

There was a guy who study for 3 weeks and he obtained a 15 in BS, and a 14 in PS, so raising your scores in more than 5 weeks is definitely doable. Don't get discouraged and keep at it, and be serious about your goal. At the same time, make sure you take appropriate breaks to keep you from burnout.

Try looking at the PS passages as minimally as possible, they're pretty much useless except for the figures and/or the explanation regarding the figure/formula. When I do the 1001's I'm getting around 80%, and if you have TPRH Science workbook that thing is awesome. If you're not getting around 90% on those passages/discretes you're not getting the material.

Just went over verbal and PS, and wow...a ton of careless mistakes! I really need to be careful on reading the question and ALL answrs. Application of what I already know is key here. Up until now all of my wrong answers in the PS I knew, but I guess between trying to keep the time in mind really messed me up. Plus I need to have more confidence in myself while taking the test.

I know this stuff! I just have to apply it!

Thanks for all your comments and cheer. ....back to the test!

Wow...I have just finished reviewing my 1st diagnostic and every wrong answer I checked I already knew! (except 1 in optics...haven't reviewed that yet). The MCAT is not hard its just really %#@* tricky!!! You have to be super focused and confident! The info is already in your brain, you just have to pull it out and put it on paper! I feel like such an idiot!!!!!

NEED TO WORK ON THAT CONFIDENCE!

Any one else w this problem?

I had the same exact problem but with more practice you start to do better. TIME IS YOUR BIGGEST enemy if we had ample amounts of time Acing the MCAT wouldn't be a problem. It's the fact that you have to pull the needle (Important info) out of the haystack (BS in the passage) within a restricted time that gets you 😉

2.5 weeks into studying got 23 on free Princeton review practice test

i took a free kaplan test 6-7 weeks into studying and got a 27

AMCC practice. I took them in order the month before the real mcat with a practice test every 3 days

3-26
4-29
5-29
6-31
7-28
8-30
9-29
10-33

Actual 32P 11-10-11

The score i was most happy with was verbal 10. it aamc 3,4,5 i got 6,7,8 in VR so i was definitly able to improve it with practice. Even though aamc 23 was considered the easiest it was my worst score. I didnt do much content review once i started taking the practice tests but went over the tests thoroughly. Conditioning your self for this test is key

Thanks for the hope! I can see what you are saying. I went over this thing and majority was test taking mistakes not knowledge. I'm done reviewing and will be doing as many exams as I can get my hands on. I'll be doing EK 1001 for the sections I need to work on the most, the rest is test taking skills and timing. Lets not forget verbal, that I'll just have to start doing daily.

Great scores good luck w the rest of your applications!
