Would a person be considered first gen if their parents recently returned to college online and completed their degree in their 50s? Unsure if the timing of this impacts whether or not the student would be considered first gen

I’d say the student would not be first gen because the parent attended college at all

I’m in the same situation and contacted AMCAS about this. Unfortunately, you’ll lose the first gen qualifier on your app, regardless of when your parents completed their degree. I am writing about my situation in essays so that schools can decide for themselves if they consider me first gen.
