For those who have trudged victoriously through second year while utilizing spaced repetition notecards, how did you learn the material initially? Moreso for non-FC users, like people with FA based Anki decks where you can't directly flag certain topics. Did you just start the notecards immediately while making more sense of them as you learned in class? Did you spend time analyzing first aid and teaching yourself via videos/wikipedia?

For this first organ system I tried to wait until we covered most of the material and I had pored through FA several times before hitting the deck hard. But it was a harder obstacle to start later as the CV deck was 600+ and I wanted to make sure to smash the class exam first. As a result there are still 200 fresh cards with about 100 reviews per day as we're about to hit the next block. This isn't so much of a problem right now, but I can see myself getting behind and giving up on them.

I did start doing some notecards before learning the information thoroughly, then once I learned the information it made the fact I had memorized more concrete. Should I try this for the next block and pick it up as I go along? What did you do? How well did it work?
